Where at in NW Ohio are you swamp?

Its showing a lot of "possible tornado producing storms" up near Toledo. All quiet here, thank God.

there is another storm cell on its way to NW Ohio. There were 15 reported tornadoes from this storm over 45 minutes while it was in Illinois.sonofsam;380303 wrote:Its showing a lot of "possible tornado producing storms" up near Toledo. All quiet here, thank God.

Its going to be an extremely active summer across Ohio. It seems the familiar places that receive bad weather are getting it as well as the areas that rarely see Tornado activity. Honestly, I am almost 31 years old and before the 2 Tornado Warnings we had in the past 4 days, I only remember ONE growing up. Things have been acting crazy lately...

I was just looking at the Ohio Tornado Database... Trumbull County seems like it has had some of the worst Tornado encounters Ohio has had since 1950. They have had 15 Tornadoes but only 13 are listed...5 F-0 Tornadoes, 2 F-1's, 3 F-3's, 1 F-4, and 2 F-5 Tornadoes. I could not imagine being in an F-5. Has to be scary as hell.

Those warnings down by you were legit too.
Just based on past trending, the NWS office in Pittsburgh (which covers in Ohio starting with Columbiana County and then heads to the south and east... they cover PA and the panhandle of WV mostly) only issues warnings when shit is going down. The NWS Cleveland (which covers from Toledo, across northern Ohio through Cleveland, Canton, and Youngstown) has a quick trigger finger. MANY storms that Cleveland warns will not be warned once they cross into Pittsburgh territory... I learned this growing up in Columbiana County when Cleveland would issue a tornado warning in Stark and then Pittsburgh wouldn't issue shit in Columbiana, and the storm had for the most part not weakened at all.
(To be fair, Cleveland does well with their western counties where it is flat and tornadoes happen; however they overwarn like a motherfucker on their eastern half where it starts to get hilly, namely Canton/Akron and Youngstown)
You have good meteorologists covering your area down there in Jefferson County.
(On a related note, Cleveland apparently did get one right today in Wayne County, where an Emegrency Manager saw it on the ground; 12 structures were damaged)

Yeah, I never know whether they're being legit or not in Columbiana. Seems like sometimes they don't even say anything and then all of the sudden the sky is trying to murder me.

You're in Mahoning County (YSU) right? That's Cleveland's overreactive asses. They always make it seem like the sky is falling, while it's more of a "bitch, please" in Columbiana County since Pittsburgh issues their warnings.

2 people confirmed dead in Lake Township from tornados. One died when her car was hit and the other died walking close to Lake HS. Another major storm coming

I live 2 blocks away from Lake Erie in Sandusky and the lightening has been pretty crazy for over a couple of hours. You could definitely tell the islands were getting pounded.

Tornado/Flash Flood watch till 9 Am. Awesome.
"A COLD FRONT WILL BRING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. RAINFALL BETWEEN 1 AND 2 INCHES IS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE WATCH AREA THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. THIS RAINFALL...COMBINED WITH SATURATED SOIL FROM RECENT RAINS WILL LIKELY CAUSE SOME FLOODING...WITH RAPID RISES IN AREA STREAMS AND RIVERS POSSIBLE."

This is an absolute shame... Prayers to the family of the deceased as well as the students and family of Lake High School where the commencement was supposed to take place...

Pittsburgh does do a rather good job. I have to agree with you. WTOV9 does a fantastic job as well. Overdramatic as hell most of the time, but when Kevin Carter has something to say, the news station as well as the valley listens.
Kind of off topic, but I have heard that WTOV9's Kevin Carter has received NUMEROUS job offers across the country including offers from major networks like CNN and FOX as well as the Weather Channel. Kevin turned them all down because he loves this area and would rather make next to nothing to be here than move. Classy guy and one HELL of a meteorologist...
...Now if he would only strangle Kristen Walls....
