I don't like the big icons at the left of each thread. I like having one thread per line. Not one thread every 3 lines since the icons take up so much room.

The icons aren't much, if any, bigger than the thread icons on the old software. They are just more bold, I guess.

Why was my last post put on 4 lines instead of 2? And in the middle of just about every post is empty space with a solid background color... don't know what that is.

I have no idea what you are talking about. What browser are you using?

it's your browser. Nothing is any bigger on here for me than on the other software.

Have no clue as both of you post are sowing only 2 line for me. What Browser are you using?

Hold down your CRTL Key then scroll on your mouse wheel and see what happens

I'm using IE 7 and I see what you're talking about.

The solid background color only shows up for me in posts without a sig.

I am using IE6. Someone else is getting the same thing on IE7, it sounds like. Here is a screen shot.

Here is a screen shot of my text being formatted and having line breaks inserted into it. But when I maximize my IE6 window, it displays better (only 2 lines) but still doesn't span the whole width like others' posts.

FYI Justin, that was what I get on IE6.

If there is a avatar the quote starts below the info under the avatar. Didn't find that issue with IE8.

Well the problem is you're using a browser (IE6) that was developed and released in 2001. :p

In Firefox the per-post background blocks go away, which helps make posts smaller. But my text is still improperly formatted.

Yep it was a known issue we discovered in Beta testing. I'm stuck with it where I work, until they upgrade the OS sometime this/next year.

I'm not going to spend any time trying to fix any display issues with IE6. You'll either need to upgrade to a real browser (if your computer isn't locked down at work) or deal with it. That browser is almost 10 years old and needs to die.

Not sure what to tell you. That post looks just fine in my Firefox browser. It also doesn't seem like a really big deal, at least to me.

The text in my post still displays incorrectly when using Firefox. (automatically-inserted line breaks)

Well, if it's not a big deal to you, that's fine. No worries. Just giving my input on this thread since that's what it is about. I'm at work, so I'll try when at home. I'm at work right now.

Maybe go back and edit your post(s) to see if it jumps back to 2 lines.

Apparently the IE6 holdouts are almost exclusively businesses, who wrote proprietary software to run inside IE6 (since it was out for so long) and won't upgrade because it would cost money to redo it for IE 7/8. Microsoft wants it to die and is actually starting to push hard to kill it.

C'mon Justin. IE6 is a solid and well proven browser, look at all the companies that use it and refuse to upgrade. :p

Thanks for the article ts1227. That explains a lot.
