Justin, appreciate all your hardwork--don't take anything personally, for real.

I just want to pose the question in a different way, rather than talking about how the new forum could improve--I want to ask what makes it better than the old one?

I just feel that it's unnecessarily less user friendly, more complicated and cosmetically it doesn't look nearly as nice--though I love the new logo.

Trolls, don't bother, I know you're foaming at the mouth to attack me but this is a valid question. I just don't understand fixing what isn't broken--JJHuddle style.

I agree 100%. From a mod standpoint, it seems like everything is the same, with options kind of scattered around. I like the infraction points thing, but other than that, everything seems about the same.

Just shooting for the hip here. I'm not Justin, but did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night...ok I lied...It might be easier for the Administrators their job. It might be more customizable for future needs. It might have more features than the previous software had that can be implemented in the future. I'm damn near positive that this has more features that haven't been rolled out yet, but, could be. Basically it went from Free Software to a Professional Version, of the software that the Free one was trying to imitate.

It took some time even with the previous software to get it where it was somewhat suitable for everyone. I don't expect this to happen over night with this software, but it will get there. Hell this software is a newer version of what vaJJ has. I do remember the bitch, gripes, and complaints when the free software was rolled out here. It was different that before and Justin worked the kinks out of it and got it done. I'm sure he'll do the same. Just give it some time.

I like the new software. It's got a cleaner look imo and the reply bar is godsend. Quotes a bit cleaner as well.

The only thing I didn't like is how "close" each thread felt, but I think a darker thread link color would help with that issue.

This layout is more in line with the other boards I frequent on occasion, so for that reason, I am more comfortable with it off the bat.

My only dislike, and its minor, is the huge amount of empty blue space at the top. But as far as the actual board goes, I'm a fan.

I too find it a bit less user friendly, but that is going to be the case with any change to a site like this. Take Facebook for instance, every time they change something about the layout everyone complains about how much they hate it, then get's used to it and realizes it's better than before, and then complains again when it changes. I don't like it as much now because to me, things seem more cluttered, like there's more information on the screen than I need. Once I get used to it, learn the new features, and find some of my favorite features, I'm sure that I'll like it.

I find it nice that when people are quoting posts in threads, only the quoted post(s) show up, as opposed to what has in the past been this huge chain of posts, where if you had two people arguing and quoting each other with each post, it'd be a pain in the ass to scroll through everything.

Yes! This is definitely an improvement

What makes it better? It is one of the best forum software packages on the market with one of the largest support bases. Give Justin some time to get things changed around so that everything seems easier to some people. Every other forum I am on uses a typical VBB setup like this so this forum seems more user friendly to me. This software >>>>>> the old software. This software>> JJ's software.

I can still tell that things are different, but I can't even remember what the differences are. It's different, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. In a week I'm sure everything will seem completely normal to me.

What makes it better? Let me count the ways...

MUCH easier to administrate
MUCH larger base of websites using the software so there is MUCH more support out there for it
A MUCH better selection of add-ons and modifications for customizing the board
MUCH more user friendly (you may not think it is right now because of the change, but believe me it is)

As far as the layout is concerned, it is inherently the same as every other forum out there. There haven't been any radical changes. All forums share probably 90% of the same layout.

How many people (what percentage of the total number of posters) have re-activated their username and email? I'm just curious... any drop off because they had to reactivate their account?

Not really. I tend to remember at that other site, prior to it being locked down, that was the same case over there. Almost double lurkers to members.

yeah but the other site put its name out there. i dont think OC has been advertised to the general public like vaJJ was. i guess i just thought this site seemed kind of private to have so many "guests".

There were always a bunch of guests viewing the old software as well. Regular users just couldn't see the numbers or the people who were online.
