I have many hesitations that Votto has missed 6 games with a sore/stiff neck.

It was this time last year he had his troubles and 80% of the morons on huddle humped all over him and then worshiped him when he came back busting the ball.

The Reds have bounced back all year long after a bad game so why should this be any different? It's way too early to start the negative vibes. This team has some character and some skill to go along with it. We'll be just fine.

Tomorrow is a good day for Votto to return. We've got RHP who just got called up from the minors, vs. Johnny Cueto. If the Reds lose tomorrow I'll be worried.

I don't know what is going on with Votto. I hope it is a stiff neck. But at the same time, it is time for him to tell the trainers he is good to go. It is after all a stiff neck. Cairo has been great for them, but let's not kid ourselves, the Reds need Votto. (This isn't really a statement about this game, just the sum total. I realize that Votto doesn't pitch and that seems to be the issue with tonight's game)

From Reds.com....
ST. LOUIS -- A stiff neck kept first baseman Joey Votto out of the Reds' lineup for the sixth game in a row on Monday during the Reds' 12-4 loss to the Cardinals. Reds manager Dusty Baker said Votto would "probably" return to start against the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Votto took batting practice on the field for the first since he's been out and also fielded balls at first base. Miguel Cairo started in Votto's place for the sixth consecutive game.

"I felt really good," Votto said. "It was good to be back out there today. I didn't have any problems with my neck.

So according to John Fay, after the game today Walt Jocketty, Bryan Price, and Dusty Baker met after the game. I wonder what it was about? The only logical conclusion is that it was about the bullpen. Fay seems to think Fisher will be sent down tomorrow and one of several things will happen:

-They call up Jared Burton, although he has only pitched 5 times.

-Chad Reineke gets the call up. He has a 2.70 ERA in Louisville.

-Homer gets put in the 'pen once he returns from the DL. (unlikely)

-Chapman gets called up and put in the 'pen (also probably unlikely)

He questions whether Lincoln is 100% as well.

One thing is for sure, the Reds have a glaring issue with this team and its their bullpen or lack thereof. To be a contender they'll need a stronger bullpen.

Yeah I would think the conversation was about the bullpen. I highly doubt they were talking about moving Bailey to the 'pen and I really doubt they were talking about Chapman coming up. Reineke could be a possibility... he has pitched pretty well in Louisville all season, and he had a good outing yesterday, I got to watch him pitch in Columbus.

At this point I would be happy to Lincoln, Massett, and Fisher all get a trip to Louisville to fix what is wrong. I know that everybody except Fisher are probably out of options... but that is where the phantom injuries come into play :)

I'm not sure I agree with the decision to send Arroyo back out after that hour long rain delay. Hindsight is 20/20 obviously but the guy got destroyed.

Originally he was with the Braves... he came to St. Louis with Ray King and Jason Marquis in the trade that sent JD Drew and Eli Marerro to the Braves. But yes, he has been Cardinal nearly his entire career
