A great story about Ocho and a Bengal fan who passed away.

Yep...never was a fan of his on the field...but he definitely does well off the field. He's constantly doing stuff like this for fans of his. Love him or hate him...you can't say anything negative about what he does off the field. Say it's 'for the attention' all you want...but as often as he does these kind of acts...you can't help but believe he genuinely does give a shit about his supporters.

He's a moron and I hate him, but he's been doing this kind of shit his whole career. So yes, I'll maintain that he's a moron, but a moron with a huge heart nonetheless. This is what its all about.

It's becoming harder and harder to dislike this guy. Never was a big fan of all the stuff he does on the field, but you keep seeing these stories about him, and it seems like this is the real Chad Johnson. He'll do the stuff on the field to hype the game and gettin people talkin about him and the Bengals...but he seems to be a great guy in day to day life.

Some people need attention all the time. All his antics on the field. Making an ass out of himself on Dancing with the Stars. I think the guy has serious mental problems. Maybe he should concentrate on winning a playoff game before he enters the hall of fame. hahaha

This thread has NOTHING to do with his on field production, or his "antics" or promoting himself on Dancing with the Stars/his dating show on VH1 ....... This is about Chad surprising a young boy and making his day and putting a smile on the young man's face.... I can almost guarantee that Chad will have contact with his family and if they need anything I can bet he would be willing to help. You don't like Chad's antics on the field that's fine... But I seriously doubt anyone can question his heart or compassion for his fans OR for the game of football. And that's what it is A GAME... and a lot of players actually forget that after about 2-3 years in the league and sorry Chad is more of role model than Big Ben!!

I've met him before and he's a dickhead. Him doing some charity work when the cameras are rolling doesn't change that. YES it is great what he did, YES he does it all the time with all sorts of media around. But there are plenty of other athletes who do things like this every single day without a peep from the media. And you usually hear about by word of mouth. Jay Bruce played catch with a kid in a wheelchair which was the kid's wish from the Make-A-Wish foundation. The media was present for that, but there was no one out there proclaiming how great Jay Bruce is, despite the fact that he does that all the time. I believe that Chad wants to do these things for both the attention and of course to help the people out. For that reason, I still dislike him, as do many others.

Which brings up a good question: If you're doing a really good deed, but doing it for selfish reasons, does it lessen that good deed even slightly?

P.S. The Reds visited injured troops while they were in DC to play the Nationals. I saw no front page story, no cameras, no pictures. Just a quick mention during the TV broadcast.

Lol you act as if chad has the media show up and tells them to write up stories about him. You know why he gets stories on him and Jay Bruce doesnt for his charity work? BC if you're not a baseball fan you have no clue who the FUCK Jay Bruce is, so why waste their time on an article? Chads a good guy...and idk how you could possibly try to bring up charity work as a negative

I didn't say it was a negative, I'm just not going to drop to my knees and start slobbing his knob just because he made some kid's day. And people seem to be pissed that I don't want to proclaim him a "100% class act" all of a sudden. Doing something good doesn't erase everything in your past. If Roethlisberger did this would he automatically become a "100% class act"? Or is he still a dirtball?

Its great what he did, but it doesn't change how I feel about him. I don't see why anyone cares what I think about him anyways, I'm sure Chad doesn't.
