There's where your logic might be flawed. You are assuming a similar rate of rape in the US today as 65 years ago. Do you believe that to be the case?GOONx19 wrote:Yes. Those 90-year-old women were all 25 years old at some point. Growing older does not erase your status as a rape victim. We aren't debating at which age they were raped. Just that they were at one time raped.Steel Valley Football wrote:ZWICK 4 PREZ wrote: Regardless of age, the number remains at 15%. So if today you lined up 100 woman aged 80 and 100 women aged 25 there would be 15-18 in both groups who have been raped?
Even though 80% of rape victims are under 30 yrs old?

Sure you would have. :rolleyes:gibby08 wrote: You're lucky he didn't fucking smack you in the mouth..I would have
Ya he still uses the pressed sausage from meatpackers. Only he really cheaps out on anymore is the cheese and sauce. I believe he uses redpack now where my grandparents used Mids and he buys his cheese from the grocery store instead of meatpackers who gets it from Amish country.GoChiefs wrote: Tastes OK to me. You don't represent an entire gender by selecting certain age ranges.

I never stated a percentage initially, you did at 15-18%.
I bet the number is actually higher than that....In the college towns that Big Ben hangs out in.GOONx19 wrote:So you're trying to tell us that 60-72% of college girls are raped? That's ridiculous. And if she's older than that then she was in college at some point anyway. ok.. provide these statistics that say on average girls are raped more than they're not. That's what you're implying.
A quick google search shows an estimate of anywhere from 15-18% of women suffered some sort of rape. Averages tend to say she's one of the 85% not 15%.
Of course, since I'm so dumb that I can't comprehend that I'm dumb, you can explain to me what's a higher percentage; 85 or 15?
You'd also need to know her views on rape, whether a close friend or family member has been raped before, etc.
Regardless, I didn't imply anything. I said maybe she's been raped before and maybe she has. Why don't you just go over and ask her?

Oh well.. I thought it was funny. She needs to lighten up.
BTW, thats a dumb name for a dog.

You need to follow closer. The initial query was about why she was offended. I suggested she could have been a former rape victim. He said odds are she wasn't.pnhasbeen wrote:Steel Valley Football wrote:

The likelihood of a girl being raped is probably higher during their college years, but that doesn't mean that to know if she's been raped you have to know her age.
Like someone else said, a girl who's raped at 21 is still a victim at 80.
And life is tough, get over the joke.

That assertion is old and played out. That's the purpose of a forum, to post something for others to read and discuss. You've started threads so its safe to assume you just need the attention huh?Steel Valley Football wrote: I've made a rape jokes, but I never started a post about it surprised I had offended someone. The truth is rape statistics have gradually increased over the last 30
years, according to the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC),
but that’s not true of everywhere. Surprisingly, in the US, where
pornography is not as obsessively controlled as it is here, the rates of
sexual assaults have actually decreased, from 2.5 per 1000
population (aged over 12) in 1973 to 0.7 in 2002 (US Department of
Justice statistics).
However, regardless of the statistical trends in sexual assault rates,
what we do know for sure is that the number of people willing to
report rapes to the authorities has increased dramatically in the last
20 years. Even today, sexual assault remains the least likely violent
crime to be reported, with only around 15 per cent of victims
notifying the police (according to AIC’s Non-Reporting And Hidden
Recording Of Sexual Assault In Australia) so imagine how often it
went unreported in the past.
