Ugh......this is scary. My cousin is graduating from Davidson on Thursday.

Didn't they just have a kid get hit by a train not too long ago too?

Thoughts from Cincinnati.

God that's a sad story.

There have been far too many high school kids that have lost their lives in the past few months.

this is kind of eerie for me. this quarry is about 3 minutes (if that) from my house. We saw helicopters flying around all night. When i was in high school my friends and i would go to this quarry at least once a week in the summers to jump of cliffs, swim, etc. We did this despite being told my numerous people how dangerous quarries are and that if you were to cramp up or something you could easily drown or that they have big air pockets that can suck you under. Yet we said it would never happen to us and thank god it didnt. I guess we were lucky. We even had the cops called on us a few times for trespassing. Terrible to see someone with such a promising future have his life taken away at a relatively young age. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family. May he Rest In Peace

Not to downgrade the potential tragedy of this event, but why is ANYONE swimming in open fresh water at this time of year??!! Any and all water at this time is still entirely too cold to swim. Stupidity resulting in tragedy once again.

Uh, ya, I was, obviously, and when water is too damn cold, I don't go in it. Nothing fun about that shit.

Thats you but apparently not for many other people. This was a tragic accident to say that it was stupidity that resulted in tragedy well is kind of heartless and stupid.

That type of stupidity doesn't result in death, just making you look like an ass.

In this kids case, his stupidity resulted in his death.

I dont think anyone was saying he deserved what happend. its more just we arent surprised. you play with fire, you're going to get burned. just like UA5straightin2008 was saying, even though they were told of what could happen when swimming there in the quarry, the continued to do it.

i was actually just talking about this with a friend. she has known about 10 people from her really small highschool that have died since graduating less than 9 years ago. non were from natural causes or diseases. one person just recently overdosed on drugs when only a few months ago, his friend died from drugs. even though that kid obviously just witnessed first hand what could happen, he decided to continue down that path. another 3 kids were killed in a car accident while still in school. after it happend everyone was going around preaching wear your seatbelt and all that stuff. a few months later, those same people were the ones speeding through town recklessly and without seat belts on.

Even though I graduated from Hilliard Darby 2 years ago, I can tell you that my facebook home page is completely covered by people upset over this tragedy. Clearly a kid who many loved was lost and it really makes you step back and appreciate what you have.

I graduated in 2005 and we've had 11 people that either were IN high school or who had recently graduated from our high school who have been killed since we graduated. We're averaging over 2 per year, in a town of less than 2k people....not good. And it's not fun. I know how it feels, many times over for the friends and family of this guy. Peace and comfort be with them, RIP young man.
