That last AB for the Reds was complete weak sauce. Seriously, you swing on a high first pitch in that situation?

If the Reds can only muster one run against the Pirates they didn't deserve to win and frankly, I have serious concerns about their ability to stay at or near the top of the Central at this point.

Chicago could gain ground tonight... a 1-0 lead in the top of the 8th currently with Dempster on the mound

If Masset came into the situations Cordro does, or cordero comes into the situations Masset does, in both cases I would have more conffidence in Masset!

Guess there will be a lot of Padres fans on here tonight; first pitch against St. Louis from Petco Park is at 10:15
I don't think Leake let you down! Only the freak triple on a routine fly to CF led to his only run allowed in 7+ innings. He could easily have won tonight with any offense, and of course last outing he should have won were it not for that freak 7 run 9th. Should really be 6-0 now!

Good win for the Pirates. Maholm was very strong and Doumit with his second game-winning homer in three games, I think.

Dads beat the Cards.

Reds and Cards still tied atop the Central, but the Cubbies did gain a full game, now only 4 back.
