Donovan has 0 assist in the confederations cup. and yes, i know there is a lot than just assists involved in scoring goals. and 1 of his 2 goals came on a PK.

Not that that wasn't a good finish, and Dempsey is good. But holy shit, take Landon out and a run of any kind gets extremely rare.
And the problem with that is what exactly? Landon Donovan is world class player, taking a world class player of a US team which as never had a ton a depth would have a huge negative impact on the side. But Donovan is on the fucking squad.

i second that.....huh?

Howard and Donovan must be successful for the US to be successful.

Yes.

2 players will not beat many teams in the World Cup.

Jozy Altidore has the potential to be the best player on the field for the US.

Talent isn't really an excuse anymore, however depth is always a concern.

We will need a full team effort 98% of the time to be successful in the World Cup.

I think Altidore is the key to the USA (or Dempsey if he is deployed up top). A forward in good form has that knack to just find goals. Plus, Jozy is the only player on the squad in attack that has the strength to play back to the goal and still make plays happen. If he is on top of his game it will do wonders for the amount of goals the USA can score.

I really feel like these guys just needed a half to get their heads in the game after most of them haven't played in a live game in a while. I think we'll see much more of the "2nd half" US team in South Africa.

Well, lets hope anyway.

Australia will be an opponent in the WC, for those clamoring on about us not being able to dominate the teams who couldnt even make it  Of course, Czech Rep and Turkey are more talented and better teams than the Aussies....
