If LBJ resigns with the Cavs... will you go into the season as confident as you did this last year even though they got spanked by Orlando? I'm not trying to be an ass, I just think it's a good question. After two years in a row of not even making the finals and getting spanked in the losing series, could you possibly feel confident about being a champ next year if LBJ is back? I still think they'd be a top 2 regular season team, but the same fate would happen. But if LBJ comes back, I expect some changes besides Brown, or the effort for some changes.

With the same roster? No. They need to get a self-sufficient power forward. This offense was horrid throughout all of the playoffs.

If LeBron stays, you better bet your ass this roster will be overhauled AGAIN.

I honestly just think we're one good coach away. I truly thought Mike Brown was a good coach, but even his defense (which is his forte) failed him this year.

He lost the locker room and the trust of his star player. Big no-nos.

Will I be as confident? I dunno, I be like I was this year, cautiously optimistic, sprinkled in with some good fun shit talking.

I'm not here to please anyone, so if I come across as a homer, or as a "paranoid Cleveland fan", oh well.

In reading the post during this series I have learn that there are very few true Cav fans on this site

The bottom line is James does leave this team will be very much like the Indians as fas as fans showing up tp the game.

Jamison is your power forward. At 2 years/$29 million total he is not going anywhere. Andy will be the starting center, as neither Shaq/Z will be back I don't think.

They just have little to no roster flexibility heading into next season as they have alot of guys making too much money for their production levels, that other teams won't trade anything of value for. Young talent is almost non-existent on the roster (J.J has shown nothing more than flashes) and they have no cap room to really sign anyone. There are no major expiring contracts to trade like the past few years, so I see few options for ways to really overhaul the team or dramatically upgrade the talent.

That more than anything will be what drives Lebron out of town if he leaves. The collapse this year just reinforced that this roster as constructed is flawed, but with no real way to change it appreciably it is a hard case to sell to him that he has his best chance to win here and should stay.

That being said, Jamison appears overwhelmed and has not looked like himself these playoffs -- and it has nothing to do with that wine and gold uniform that continues to look awkward on him after three months in Cleveland. The Cavaliers, or rather Coach Mike Brown, don't seem to have a clue how to utilize him.

Jamison hasn't been put in position to flourish on the offensive end. It seems that he has been pigeon-holed into this role as a "stretch four" to hit three pointers, but that totally marginalizes all that he can contribute to a team offensively. You don't average 19 points over 12 seasons as a 6-foot-9 power forward if all you can do is shoot jumpers. Granted, Jamison does enjoy shooting jumpers, but I happen to recall seeing him work in the low block over the past few years, especially on the left side of the paint, where he can quickly spin around taller defenders and toss up floaters or one those Sanford & Son approved garbage shots

The Cavaliers don't go to Jamison in the post much, and that's partly because of the presence of O'Neal, who clogs up nearly all of the available space inside. And, one of the most underplayed storylines of this postseason is that Jamison and O'Neal played only four games together in the regular season, with the Cavaliers going 2-2. O'Neal missed the final 23 games with a thumb injury, so they never had the opportunity to develop much chemistry. I asked Jamison if that was a concern, but he shook his head.
If we had a coach, who knew how to utilize offensive players and put them in position to succeed, we would be a MUCH better team. This team had enough talent to win it all, no doubt about that.

Antawn doesn't score 20ppg for his career by being a jumpshooter. Mike Brown fell in love with him being a "stretch 4".. He's NOT. He CAN hit them, but that's definitely not his forte.

The Washington Post is right on; however, can they explain why Jamison has no clue how to guard Garnett?

If LBJ resigns, here is what I think needs to happen:

1. Retire "Z" and make him an honorary assistant coach.
2. Get a new head coach. Doc Rivers would have taken the Cavs to a title.
3. Shaq, while a big presence, needs to be gone. I'd love to see the Cavs get a great center, but keep Anderson and Hickson.
4. Not sure about Mo Williams. He seems to be able to pour it on at times but the majority of times, well, I don't know.
5. Delante West is gone. That means more Boobie time, doesn't it? lol.
6. Jamison will be back and will be utilized more effectively.

Those are just a start.

if they re-sign LBJ, I have the same confidence that I had this year. I'm confident they will be the best team, I'm confident they'll struggle in the playoffs and possibly lose.

If they make some roster changes (i.e. a PG who's good for more than the first 82 games, a SG who can S, a PF who can score AND play defense, and a C who isn't either a) a 7'3" pussy who shoots J's or b) a 350lb burnt out star) I'm significantly more confident.

To the OP, this playoff season was just a sad dose of reality....this current roster is a fraud. Although Lebron is the best player in the game, he does not have that "it" like Kobe or Dwade. If you want to be the alpha dog, you cannot have a series like he had...smh.

I've been saying this for several years. Mike Brown simply doesn't know what buttons to push in the playoffs.

If rumors that he lost the locker room are true, he's probably gone if Lebron stays, unless Lebron demands Brown stay as coach (which is probably why superstars shouldn't have that kind of clout).

There's some truth to this. But the bigger problem is Mike Brown has entirely too much of the offense revolving around Lebron. That might win you regular season games but not playoffs.

I do have to laugh, though. When Cavs fans got Shaq they were going to be unstoppable. I said (on the "old" board, unfortunately) then that they'd be singing a different tune come May. Sure enough.

Also, I haven't sifted through all the these Cavs threads, but Wine & Gold from RCF says that he would be shocked if this wasn't Lebron's last game as a Cav.

And it seems to be a forgone conclusion that Mike Brown is gone.

When was the last time W&G was right about something? Mo Williams trade. He hasn't been right since.

When was the last time W&G was right about something? Mo Williams trade. He hasn't been right since.
No shit. I always read stories about how W&G predicted this and that but I have never seen any proof.

Lebron is not a choke artist, but IMO he realized Game 5 was or could be his last home game as a Cav, and he choked in the moment.

He played better in Game 6, but the writing was already on the wall. And let's not ignore that he was 1 turnover away from a rare quadruple double.

If Lebron leaves, it will be fun watching the worshippers all these years suddenly change their tune.

I'm pretty sure we can. Bosh's max contract is around 17.5 million while Shaqs was 20 million.

Personally I don't respect fans that just root for particular players. It's about the name on the front on the jersey, not the name on the back. Of course Cavs fans are going to be fans of LeBron because he plays for the Cavs. If he chooses to play for another team I, along with all of the TRUE Cavs fans will no longer support him. It's not rocket science bud ;)

They're still way over the cap even minus Shaq's $20 million. They had the 3rd highest payroll in the league last year.
