That is the first I have heard of anyone putting Gerhart anywhere near the top in this.
Gerhart is every bit deserving to be on the list. Much more than Tebow.

I completely agree. If he has a good game against Nebraska in the Big 12 title game, he should win it easily. If that's not the case, then something is very wrong.

If McCoy doesn't win this year then there's definitley something wrong with the voters, heck I thought he deserved it last year.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that it. You may be right, ccrunner609.

The only thing that could save Ingram is a huge performance next week that leads to his team winning over Tebow's Gators.

As others have said, Colt McCoy should be in the drivers seat after his game. I truely believe this guy is one of the best QB's in the country. Passed for over 300yds, ran for 175, 5 total TD's! Thats an amazing day!! Close to 500yds total offense!! If that were Tebow, people would be proclaiming him to walk on water!!

If it's going to the best football player in 2009, then it has to be Spiller or McCoy. Spiller would get my vote, but the team success thing probably makes voters lean toward Colt McCoy.

Wouldn't count him out totally. If he has a HUGE game vs Fla next week, he could get back in if everybody else doesn't have a good weekend.
Big game by Tebow could vault him up as well.
But right now, it SHOULD be McCoys to lose. But we all know how this thing could go because of the media.

Not really. The award is to honor College football's best player, it's not an MVP award.

If Gerhart has another monster game tonight, I think he should have a vice grip on this.

The top 2 at this point are Gerhart and McCoy with the winner being a tossup.

If Gerhart does? He is playing against a POOR ND run defense. Gerhart will/should have a huge game tonite.

Tim Tebow vs. FSU

17-21 for 221 yards and 3 TDs
15 carries for 90 yards and 2 TDs

Big game for Tebow. He's still hanging in the Heisman race, but I think he has to have a big game against Bama to pass McCoy.

CJ Spiller vs. South Carolina

88 yard KO return for a TD, 104 total return yards
9 carries for 18 yards
3 catches for 19 yards

Tough day for Spiller other than the kickoff return for a TD. He'll need a big game against GT next week to stay in the hunt.

Toby Gerhart vs. Notre Dame

29 carries - 205 yards - 3 TDs
18 yard TD pass
1 reception - 33 yards

Gerhart just made a huge statement tonight.
