I was reading hoopshype, and they had a blurb that said a poll done in the Plain Dealer said that a majority of Clevelanders think Lebron is gone if the Cavs lose this series.

I have thought all along he would stay, but I do think that failing to even get to the finals again after leading the league in wins for a second straight year may change that. He can't blame the organization for not surrounding him with enough talent to win it as they have made every move they possibly could, but maybe if they fail he might just wake up and think Cleveland is cursed not to win championships no matter what happens.

What say everyone else?

Without a doubt, gone.

And that makes it crazy to think that if the Cavs lose the next 2/3, then we are seeing the final games of LeBron James in a Cavs uniform.

I completely disagree with this. Sure the Cavs have tried to improve their team every year, but I just don't think they have done that. Who on the Cavs roster right now gives Lebron assurance for years to come?

The only talented young player they have is Hickson, and he's a role player.

Shaq and Z are done, then you have Varejao at center?

Jamison has been disappointing and is a mediocre if not below average PF in the NBA at this point in his career. Hickson has potential, but just isn't ready to contribute to a championship team.

The guards are Mo Williams, Parker, Moon and West. All 4 of those guys are average NBA guards who look better than what they are because of Lebron.

Reality is that Lebron is playing with far less than most other teams who are threats for a championship each year, and things will likely stay that way for the immediate future. Everyone says that Miami has a bad supporting cast, well one could argue that it is close to as good as Clevelands.


Jamison or Mo Williams would be considered Clevelands 2nd best player, if either of those guys are on the Lakers, Phoenix or Orlando, they are all coming off the bench. There is just such a huge gap between.

I know a lot of people don't like Cowherd, but before this series started he said that if you take Lebron out of the equation, Boston has the 6 next best players on either roster (Rondo, Pierce, Garnett, Allen, Perkins and Big Baby). I think Perkins and Big Baby might be a stretch, but maybe it's not?

I agree with Dynasty except for the part where the supporting cast was on par with Miami's.

Miami is atrocious.

Cleveland's supporting cast is more than a bit better than Miami's. Just trust me on that one. Now if LBJ comes to Miami, he would make them look as good as he's done for your role players.

Yeah, the supporting cast isn't the best it could be, but if LBJ stays, he makes EVERYONE around him better by drawing most of the attention, you know that. Pippen wasn't shit w/out Jordan etc...

and unless lbj commits first, cleveland isnt a prime FA spot, especially with a place like miami open that will be commanding the free agency.

if lbj resigns, then clearly, FA will want to come. they wont come until lebron signs though.

that's the cleveland paradox.

I agree, LBJ is the fulcrum here no doubt. If the Cavs bow out, Brown is gone and the Cavs will be pressing LeBron for a public announcement if he plans to stay. If he hedges, then all bets are off, as FA's would need a reason to go to Cleveland.

How did that work with Ariza? Lebron wouldn't tell him that he was going to stay, so Ariza went elsewhere, it's just another reason to question Lebron's desire to stay in Cleveland and build a championship team. If wasn't able to commit last offseason, so what makes one think he will now?

And what free agents are they going to sign that puts them on par with the other elite teams?

Orlando is much better than Cleveland right now and are younger. The Lakers are much better right now and have plenty left in the tank. Phoenix has a couple more years left with Frye, Stoudemire and Nash.

Then you have upcoming teams like Chicago (who will sign someone), Oklahoma City and Portland. Cleveland can't be content with their current roster.

Not only Miami, but New York, New Jersey, Chicago and the LA Clippers all have room to sign someone and are much more desireable locations than Cleveland, and Oklahoma City has room which might be a more promising roster for the future than Cleveland.

What makes you think, given the moves Ferry has made thus far, they would stand pat if LBJ stays?

Ferry has done anything but sit on his hands, and the Cavs spend money.
