The Swiss should have put it away. I have a feeling Spain ties it up because of this.

??? do you mean when an announcer said he almost scored a super goal or wonder goal. They typically say that about long range missiles.

Actually I think they got completely away from what they do the last 30 min and that cost them. Spain is not really a crossing team, they are a team that break you down. They stopped doing that and really werent even close to connecting on any of the crosses.

The Spain vs Chile match is going to be huge now. Swiss are likely through with 6 points and possibly 7 or 9 depending on their next match vs Chile.

I wish I had been able to watch this game but I was running errands all morning.

Can someone give me a basic recap of the Spain-Swiss game, more specifically why did Spain lose?

The Swiss scored a goal. Spain did not. That is as basic as it gets and is very specific as to why Spain lost.

Hope this helps.

I can't wait to see what this good European team blames their loss on.

France already used the vuvuzelas... no one has really blamed the ball yet. There's Spains excuse!

Spain didnt finish their great chances early. Pique had a shot saved from point blank, Villa missed a few, Silva made some terrible passes that killed attacks. Swiss didnt do anything really until a quick counter where they got a lucky bounce for a goal. Then Spain started playing different from their style and it cost them.

How's everyones bracket doing after the first round of group stages has come to an end?

The only group that I definitely will not get it right is I picked Greece to finish 2nd...that probably won't happen.

I've got a lot of the two teams correct so far, but have missed on their seedings a bit.

Greece and Cameroon are the only ones that look bad so far for me. I'm hoping Cameroon can turn it around but I don't have much faith in Greece.

Shocking result from Spain. The Swiss are better tactically than they've been given credit for plus they have a pretty bruising back line.

This is the same for me from what I remember from my bracket can't think of any others I might have gotten wrong. Just checked my bracket for some reason I had Germany as the #2 coming out of Group D and Australia as the #1 obvious meant it the other way around :(.

According to the match tracker on soccernet.com, Torres didn't start an came on as a sub midway through the second half.
