I sound dumb? Your post makes no sense what so ever, yet you have the stones to call someone a retard, I've heard it all now.

Let's see, this is the "World Cup Talk" thread isn't it? Don't like it, don't read it!

I didn't start the name calling so get off your horse!

As for that video, slow it down or pause it at the 15 second mark, he gets clipped on the heel and he immediatley clutches his heel when he hits the ground. Taking a spike to the heal isn't pleasant.

Look I like the World Cup but I am not a soccer fan. This and the Olympics, maybe a few US matches now and again is all the soccer I watch. One of the reasons that soccer is not popular here is the weakness of the players. They act like their legs get blown off by land mines half the time, how can anyone respect that??? Watch what happens to the legs of running backs on the football field and you don't see that crap!! I appreciate International Soccer for what it is, country vs country GO USA!

I am not on any horse, starting it and being part of it is no different what are you 6? As soon as someone said Italy wasn't that great you got all hot in the seat!

I really don't care! I posted my opinion and supported it with some facts which obviously a few haters can't deal with. What are you........the hall monitor? I'm not going to sit back and take the abuse!

There is ZERO contact there at all. And he absolutely got up and had a huge smile on his face. We commented on it when it happened live. That clip cuts out before it happens.

I don't like soccer at all but was kind of willing to give it a chance for the World Cup. I hadn't watched any soccer at all since the US hosted years ago. After watching a lot so far this week, I am pushed even farther away from doing so in the future because of people flailing about.

Rock seriously I really don't have anything against you but really this one is on you. Your bias for Italy is so huge you can't see past it. You respect no others opinion of Italy's team or chances, and your thoughts on how good Italy may be is your opinion. Like I said, 32 nations, 1 trophy see what happens. You have a chance to prove some posters wrong, they have that chance against you and the Italians as well.

Wrong.......when people Durkie and Sports and Ladies start with their nonsense then I'm going to fire back. You don't see myself and Automatic or Laley carry on and on (and we disagree on plenty of things regarding soccer), we come to a point to agree to disagree, these other two agitators are clueless! I posted earlier to put their money where the mouths are but I got no response to that.......I wonder why.

15 second mark karen, he takes it right on the back of his heal. I still fail to see where he was smiling.

Oh please. This isn't baseball or track; a cleat and a spike are entirely different. A cleat to the heel is no worse than someone stepping on the back of your foot as you walk. You're delusional.

^ Yes. And the backs of the shoes are the thickest part. A cleat to the heel is not painful. Getting caught up on the Achilles is definitely painful, but if there was any contact at all in that video then it happened at the bottom-most part of the shoe's back.

Agreed. Also having a player slide into your chest with full momentum would hurt, but Tim Howard didn't act like he was shot by a .50 Caliber Sniper Rifle.

Exactly. Tim Howard took only what time was needed to brush himself off, man up, and play through pain like a true American. Or Canadian. A la Steve Nash.
