there seems to be a common denominator, the horn. it seems like whenever a chatter honked their horn at someone, it flipped the road rage switch in the other party.

Wouldn't he have had to have a soul for that to work, though?

in cases like this it's best to treat it as though he does.

Heres my story that happened a few years ago.

My ex gf and I were coming home from Applebees down on Olentangy. Traffic on High street was backed up a bit so this guy gave me the "go ahead" motion and I pulled out. Seemed simple enough. We get to the next light and the guy that let me out pulls up to my right and motions me to roll down my window. My ex is sitting shotgun so she rolls it down, the guy looks at me and says "I just wanted to let you know that you're a fuck up". Confused I just sat there and before I could say something the light turns and he pulls ahead. We both lauhed about it wondering what that guys deal was. We continue south on High and he decides to cut me off and hit his brakes. At this point I'm getting pissed but I cant really get out of the car in the middle of high street. Anyway, as we reach the next light I'm getting ready to turn left into an alley that leads to my apt on Norwich ave. This jackass sees me turning and pulls a u-ey on High street(almost causing an accident). He cuts me off on my way up the alley and stops his car. At this point we are in a narrow alley behind this guy with nowhere to go. He gets out of his car and stands there, I take one look at this dude and get out without even thinking about it. Hes about 5'5 and maybe 150lbs, I'm 6'2 210. He then opens his car door, reaches into his backseat and pulls out a crowbar. At this point my gf is telling me to get back into the car and starts calling the cops. I'm way too pissed to back down now. I take two steps towards him and say something along the lines of "you better make sure that you connect with that thing or this is gonna end badly for you". He mumbles something then gets back into his car and drives off. We called the cops but nothing came of it. I've never wanted to knock the shit out of somebody so bad in my life. That happened right before my junior year at OSU.

Gas station Subaru boy would have been looking straight into the barrel of a Springfield Armory XD 9mm w/ Remington Golden Sabre +P loads right after he rammed my car. My next move would have been determined by his next move. Quickly. Get your CHL. There's a lot of idiots out there.

I wouldn't have sat there waiting to see what his next attempt at harming me was going to be. WTF indeed. I don't want to have to use my gun, but once you put me in a position like that, it's on.

Always good to have a fast car in these situations. At least you have a chance of getting away.

If you mean that it is a last resort, defensive weapon you are correct. If I judge that at that moment, I can't drive the car to retreat to safety, you will be drawn on. For instance in this scenario, if I had shut my car off and it was rammed and I couldn't immediately drive away, I will not wait for you to make the next move. I will take the best cover available (if there is time) and assume a defensive position as far from you as possible. After the first attempt to harm or kill me by ramming my car I don't know what you may attempt next so I will prepare for you being armed or ready to ram ME this time.

TDI would tell you to asses the situation more before drawing your weapon on someone. The "step back I'm armed" movement should be your first course of action if you can't get away and you do not see them with a weapon.

Actually, you might have an un-insured claim. Contact your own carrier.

He already used a weapon (car) i'm not exposing myself to any more of that or whatever else he's got. Condition Red, I'm making decisions now, reactive and proactive as needed.

i am willing to bet that him hitting the poster's car, was more of a love tap to let him know he was there than ramming it at speed with the intent to do harm.

I've actually had a professor in college who got road rage at a gas station once at the old washington exit(just outside of cambridge). He pulled a glock on a guy then fled the scene, was later caught. How he is teaching I dont know.

I've never shot AT anyone hunting on my property. I fire off shots to scare off all the game.

I was also kidding about chasing a kid off with a shotgun, although then it turned into whats legal or not, which is what I was defending.

I've had a guy at my window threatening to kill me and I just drove off and never pulled my gun, even though it was right there. I would never draw down on someone unless I truly thought they were honestly about to kill me in the next few seconds unless I act.
