I tend to think that dressing appropriately for the situation shows more intelligence. So I guess my answer is yes I do judge by appearance. However, I wouldn't judge someone who has tats or a bunch of piercings, unless they were vulgar tats or something like that.

All my tats can be covered, all my piercings can be removed. I dress appropriately at work and if I am interviewing you won't find me in less than a suit. I do not work customer facing, I service employees hardly even ever face to face. All my interactions are from my small office in an unoccupied section of our building via phone or email.

Probably because they don't want anyone seeing you ;).

I don't judge on appearance in the workplace or outside of work in a normal setting. The only time I really judge people is if they smell terrible I mean seriously how hard is it for some people to shower or put on deodorant

Ha ha, actually its unoccupied now because of construction they just haven't put a new department in that area, it wasn't always unoccupied and I share my office with 2 others.

I once interviewed a young woman for a technical writing job. She had flaming orange hair and nine facial piercings. I did offer her the job. But if she had interviewed for a job where she would have to deal with customers, I wouldn't have given her the time of day.
