Hats off to Illinois--none of this would have mattered tonight if they wouldn't have pulled that craziness off.

Let's not forget about what Illinois did. If they didn't have that incredible comeback, then the Big Ten doesn't win this challenge.

a sign of things to come in the NCAA this year...pretty strong Big Ten presence; and an OSU team that remains under-rated.
Purdue, MSU, tsun, OSU, maybe Wisky, maybe Illinois all possible sweet 16 contenders.
No way Michigan or Illinois are sweet 16 contenders. I'm skeptical of all the rest as well, but this is definitely a great thing for the Big Ten.

Little early in the season to say a team that just beat the #18 team on the road is in no way a sweet 16 contender

A little early in the season to say anyone IS a sweet 16 contender.
I'm not sold on any team from the Big Ten making the sweet 16. I want to see conference play first.

I would rather say hats off to Clemson for yet another epic choke job. Booker even tipped the winning basket in for the Illini.

ohio,
I don't feel for ya too much, as my team's end game play (last minute and a half) tonight was some of the worst I've seen in awhile, but that was awful to watch, even from a non-fan's standpoint. You might as well have been cheering for the Buffalo Bills.
Purnell's Clemson bio pic should be this:

One thing we can both agree on, ohio, is that we better beat the hell out of Roy and Carolina this year while they're somewhat down. Recent years haven't treated us too well. I'm still even pissed about your guys' loss on Tyler's shot in '08.

I don't want to talk about losing to Carolina right now, lol. It is too painful. We are their bitch. At least we beat you now and then. Lets take it to them this year.

I wouldn't be too quick to call UNC down. They just beat MSU and Duke lost to Wisky and the season is still very young--they'll be rolling by the time they play Duke.

Good news, ohiotiger33. Clemson doesn't have to go to Chapel Hill this year!
Can't wait for February 10th, rec. Carolina might be pretty good by that time.

Lol that is good news. Playing there is a guaranteed loss. Two years ago, when we blew a 12 point lead in the final 5 minutes there, I actually broke a remote control (it was old and not in use, but still the maddest I have ever been at sports).

Make no mistake about it, I didn't mean that Carolina is average. I didn't dig into them too much even after their lopsided loss to the Orangemen because, well, Roy Williams teams don't go away. His club's 2006 win in Cameron is all the evidence you need, really. Duke had no business losing that game on Senior Night. Not with the ACC's all-time leading scorer, and arguably college basketball history's best shooter, as well as a two-time national defensive player of the year playing their final games at home. This still makes me sick, almost four years later. (Why do I insist on reliving this stuff over and over...A troubled fan I am.) They were basically all FRESHMAN!!
Anyhow, yes, iron, I expect a very tough match-up against you guys. By that point, it might even be a top five, top six game between the two of us. I HAVE to believe that Jon Scheyer won't allow his career to go winless in Cameron against Carolina, though, in game two.
Game one will be hell. I can't wait.

Scheyer is a douche bag. Sorry, I can't stand him.
Singler is a baller though. I think Plumlee is going to be a stud too and holy crap, watch out for that kid stroking those threes tonight.

But Scheyer isn't a baller?
The kid's one of the best on-ball defenders in the country, practically closes down the city of Durham when he commits a turnover and will be one of only nine Blue Devils all-time when he graduates to have averaged double figures for four years.
Statistically, not many are better..
16.8 PPG .. 5.2 APG .. 10:1 A/TO ratio .. 40% 3PT .. 1.0 SPG
Pretty stout.
You might hate him, but Jon's a rock.

UNC has taken down 2 of the top 3 Big Ten teams...
Pretty good stuff for a team so young that lost all of it's key cogs from last season...
It's really shaping up for an exciting season, that's for damn sure...

HB and I don't seem to agree on much, but I second that LOFL! He is not one of the best on ball defenders in the country. I won't argue with his stats--I didn't say he wasn't talented. He plays at Duke...DUH, he's talented. But I just can't stand him.
And yeah, he can ball. Next level he'll just be another bench warmer though--I think Singler could actually be a solid NBA player. Good size and he's a very talented scorer from pretty much anywhere on the court.
