Has anybody else been following this story?  Savannah Guthrie's (NBC) 84 year old mother disappeared a couple of weeks ago.

I think the poor woman is dead, has been dead. And if I had to guess, it's a serial killer that killed her.

What do you think? Will she/her remains be found?

Yes, I have been following it. It’s very strange.  At this point, I don’t think she will be found alive. I’m super curious as to what the motive is.

I feel she’s dead and will be found

I just find it odd that a disabled parent of a "celebrity", living by herself, didn't have a decent security system. Nest cameras without a subscription and that's it. I can only attribute it to the idea that "it won't happen to me".

Why would it be a serial killer? Has there been similar deaths in the area.

I don't know if there have been similar events in that area. But not all serial killers practice their craft in their own backyards. There are many who travel all over the place to fulfill their compulsions.

I might be wrong, but I don't find the random demands to be credible. To me they really seem like scumbag opportunists.

So there is no (imo) credible ransoms, no notes or emails leading toward a discovery, no proof of life given - seems to me that whoever took her wasn't looking for monetary rewards. That's why I think it was a thrill kill.

It's odd.  Definitely seems like there was some sort of inside knowledge to have taken so much time at the place.

Burglary gone wrong, and/or kidnapping.  Nothing really makes much sense.  Thrill killer, maybe, but I think still must have inside knowledge otherwise I don't think such people choose remote areas where they stand out as not belonging there.

My guess is kidnapping gone wrong.  She's probably dead and they realized they'd never collect a ransom and are long gone.  I think all the ransom demands were probably fake/opportunists.

I saw a video that says it may be Nancy’s nieces boyfriend thru marriage. Supposedly it was his car that was towed the other day.

First plausible scenario I've seen.  Wouldn't seem to fall under the "family cleared" umbrella, either.  Though could be disinformation hoping a suspect slips up.

It's an awful thing, but it's a side commentary on the electorate how much news coverage this has received, even when there's no "news".  So much other news to be talking about.
