Why did Jordan stay in Chicago for all those years? Up until the Bulls run with Jordan, they never won shit.

The NBA structure is far different than pro baseball. LaBron will make less than .5 of 1% more going to a large market. LeBron's contract with McDonalds is the exact same whether he plays in Cleveland, Newe York, LA, or Bumfuck Idaho.

There is a salary cap in place too. It's not like the Yankees buying penants. It doesn't work that way in the NBA.

If he leaves, I'll be stunned.

While I agree with most of what you said, I just have some follow up. The one thing that he could do in another city that he hasn't YET done in Cleveland is win a championship. I'm not saying he can't win one in Cleveland though. It'll just come down to which place he has a better chance to win at and be happy at. There is one place I think he could go to and have more success than he's had at Cleveland, but it's a long shot. And I don't think he'd be as happy there.

See but you're assuming he could win in another city based upon pretty much nothing. I don't see him being in a much better situation than he is now, and obviously I don't know LeBron but it appears that he's happy in Cleveland. I mean it's clear he's got great friendships with many of his teammates, he has complete control of the organization and pretty much the coaching staff. He'll never be questioned by the local media like he would in New York. LeBron's best bet is staying in Cleveland, I mean they have the #1 record in the NBA right now. How is he going to improve?

This is just my opinion, but I don't think the NBA would let it happen. We'd probably all agree the NBA made sure the cavs had the #1 pick to get lbj. They aren't gonna let him leave, because if he does. They might as well move the franshise! The city of Cleveland will explode in violence!

Personally, I think he just loves all the attention this is bringing him, but in the end has no desire to go anywhere.

On a grand scale, he is worth more in Los Angeles, Miami or even New Jersey with who is running the show there.

Nobody can offer more contract wise I know, but put LeBron in Miami or LA and see what happens.[/align]

I think lebron is doing pretty well for himself in Cleveland, as far as endorsements go. And he has the name to sell anywhere.

Of course I'm assuming, the future has yet to happen. But don't be mistaken, you are as well. Just as much as you assume he can win a ring in Cleveland with the core around him, I assume that if he went to Miami and paired up with Wade, that they together would win ringS. How is he going to improve? This is the easiest question I've ever had to answer... win a championship.

I don't really see why tho. I need to see this all figured up. He's the biggest athlete in china, not Yao. He's a household name in the states. Has his own shoe and clothing line with Nike. Big endorsement deals with mcyd's, state farm and others. Why does moving to la or Miami really change that? I think this may be the most overrated thing I've ever heard. I think it's just ppl jealous and ppl who don't like Cleveland and hope he will leave because they know he will win championships there.

20 years ago yes you would be correct. But now with the age of information and the internet this is no longer the case. The #1 endorsement guy in the NFL is Peyton Manning, he plays in Indianapolis. LeBron has a certain earning potential, and this potential will be maximized no matter what city he plays in.

How so? Or are you just saying this because you're trying to rile people up? I want you to explicitly state why he would earn so much more in those places?

He already has some HUGE contracts... who else is going to endorse? If he goes to LA does the Catholic Church pick him up and offer him half of what the Vatican has? Is the Queen of England going to sponsor him if he goes to New Jersey?

You're post is tired and old, people say this because they either

A) Have no idea what they are talking about and are just repeating they heard from some other misinformed individual

or

B) Are trying to just get under people's skin.

He has no shortage of endorsements now, and the one's he doesn't have he doesn't want.

This isn't true. There was a "Sports Business Economist" on the radio this morning and he said Lebron would only be worth more in a big market after winning a championship. If his only options are to go to big market teams who are a few years out, there is no monetary benefit.

Yeah I mean the guy got a McDonald's endorsement in Cleveland, just imagine the best fast food franchise going after him after he leaves Cleveland.

The endorsement argument is flawed. He'll make just as much in Cleveland plus MILLIONS more via his contract. Plus, the Chinese investors will be wise to create more endorsements for LBJ overseas coming up.
