My thinking has always been that when LeBron said that at last year's game that he thought that would entice other superstars to go in with him. I think it didn't happen, and hence where were at today. That's not to lay blame on others because LeBron was definitely wrong to say he's going to compete but just throwing a thought out there.

Who gives a shit. The dunk contest is shit compared to what it used to be.. It used to be about, get this, DUNKS!

Now, it's about who can be the most idiotic while dunking... Seriously, I don't give a F about somebody wearing a Superman cape and coming out of a phone booth.. Nor do I care about a guy who wnats to be the aforementioned guys' kryptonite...

The skills competition and the 3 point shootout are better now..

God, what a pussy he is. You're the man everyone wants to see in the one event everyone will watch on All-Star weekend and you're too cool for school....What a waste. The fans are paying your way and you can't give 'em a little bit of fun. What an ingrate.

It'd be like Alexander Ovechkin not competeing in some type of stickhandling skills competition....He's the one person EVERYONE wants to see.

Maybe Lebron will at least be gracious enough to go out and let an obscure college player dunk on his ass. Oh, wait he wouldn't let us see that either. Gotta maintain you're cool guy IMAGE.

I'd love to see a true horse contest done inside the arena... Some of the pregame warmup shots these guys hit are amazing...

But yeah, a 1-on-1 tourny would be great, but probably wouldn't happen..

No biggie, but I called bullshit when he was saying he would at last years all-star game. Not sure why he would have opened his mouth about it. Caught up in the moment I suppose.

There is no denying Lebron as a basketball player. But I never been a fan of him as a person. This gives me another reason why.

It was at the Q...I was there. The one thing I will say is that even though Lebron was the best player on the floor, up until the last 5 mins of the game, his stats were not MVP worthy. Then, all the sudden, he was featured and put up a ton of uncontested points....I thought it was shameful. It was like, no matter what, he had to be the MVP of that game.

Trick shots. Now thats a great idea.
These guys today are so athletic the dunk has lost its excitement.

All this hoopla over a dunk contest. Back when I was a kid, the NCAA baaned dunking altogether because of Lew Alcindor. Making zero footers isn't all that great.
