Although I'd like to see him in it, there is no reason for LeBron to compete in the dunk contest.

Wimps out, lolz at LeBron being scared of any of those guys. Its safe to say LeBron is the most physically gifted player in the league.

Ive never seen Lebron do a creative dunk, this isnt the dominique wilkins days where simple power dunks win you the contest.
Im actually not so sure he would even win if he did enter.

And its wimps outs bc this is like the 2nd or 3rd year in a row he says hell compete next year....and then puts his tail between his legs

Reachin to find something to bash him on lol.

LeBron did a fucking between the leg dunk in HS during a game on the run. That is some of the dunks you see in the contest.

Nah, this stuff just irritates me. Lol like hes too good to go out there have a good time and put on a show for the fans. How many players in the history of the dunk contest have been injured and missed playing time?

Lol and did you see him in the HS dunk contest? All basic look how high i can jump dunks. I really dont think hed win the dunk contest if he entered this year. But we wont have to figure that out bc he again backed out.

What the hell do you think Howards dunks were or Robinson's?

Lets put on cape's and jump real high while "throwing" not dunking the ball through the hoop.

In case you havent noticed. This dunk contest hasnt featured many NBA Alll Stars for awhile now. Dwight Howard won this when he was still an up and comer. I think the big $$$ guys dont want to risk injury, and most of them really have nothing to prove. Check that list out. Nothing close to a star in this year.

My great grandmother once said that "You are only as good as your word." Apparently Lebron isn't. Don't lie to the fans and say you're going to do something, only not to do it. Very immature behavior on Lebron's part.

Its a little dissapointing but the other players in it are scrubs compared to Lebron...Why would he even want to compete against those guys??

Im pretty sure Eric Gordon and someone else are having a "dunk-off" on Friday night before to see who gets the 4th spot for the actual event on Saturday.

Im surprised Eric is even in this, Ive never seen him do anything cool on a dunk other than posterize someone. He is short at 6-1 (MAYBE 6-2), but not Nate Robinson short. I just dont see him being able to do much creatively speaking.

Edit. Dwight Howard did participate last year as an All Star. Kobe Bryant last participated in 1997.

I don't think Lebron not being in it is a issue because as mentioned, not many NBA All-Stars do participate. It was just the fact the Lebron was on the record saying that he WILL enter his name for the dunk contest, only to randomly change his mind. I think that is why people are disappointed.

I'm not sure if I'm LeBron that I would want to take the chance of a career ending injury so that a bunch of people could ooh and aahhh when I dunked the ball. If it is acceptable to rest entire starting lineups two and three weeks before the beginning of the NFL play-offs, I can't help but think that if LeBron wants to stay out of the dunk contest, we shouldn't hassle him about it.

People seem to forget that LeBron said he would be in it if they did certain things with it. Apparently they weren't willing to change the contest back to the old form.

Back in the day, guys like Jordan, Dominque, and others wanted to be in the contest to prove they are the best. But nowadays it's "I might get hurt" which is a big pile of garbage. These guys can dunk so effortlessly that saying they will get hurt is a simple cop out to avoid it for the fear of losing. I agree with a few people that Lebron might not win because basically every one of his dunks is the same. Jump as high as he can and throw it down with one hand as hard as he can. Now tell me the ratings for this (which stink anyways) wouldn't be huge with a dunk contest of Kobe, Lebron, Wade, and one more guy.
