Made a trade for CJ spiller, traded Tavon Austin for him.

Now someone is offering me Duke Johnson and Houston D for Seattle D. Thoughts?

Anyone willing to trade a skilled position for a Def is a dummy and you should definitely do it.

I understand that a position player for a defense is usually a bad move. But seattle's D is really damn good especially now that they're returning punts every other game for a TD.

But I will probably accept. Finally have some decent running backs. Spiller and Duke starting isn't great but it's a whole lot better than Reggie bush and Joique Bell lol. And I only had to get rid of Seattle d and Tavon Austin.

Two owners in my league made a trade Tuesday night. Trade will be processed in yahoo Friday morning. They're wondering if I (as commissioner) can get votes from the league to see if I can manually make the trade happen Thursday so that players involved in the Thursday night game can be on their new teams.

Everyone doesn't mind, but two guys are saying its bullshit and that they need to wait until yahoo processes it.

Thoughts?

I'd say if the majority of people in your league has no problems with you speeding up the process of it going through then do it. But I would say if you do it now you should do it for the rest of the season as well.

Our leagues (at least ones I have set up) has an owners vote but also gives commish power to process it. In long-standing leagues among friends and what not, I don't get why you would wait. If it's a random league with random people, it makes more sense to go through the veto voting process.

It's a group of friends we've been in this league for 7 years.

Basically TY Hilton is involved. Who plays Thursday night. Since the trade won't go through until Friday morning, what should that owner of TY do? What if he puts TY in his starting lineup?

The Thursday night games fuck up fantasy.

We have the 2 day period to veto any trades that seem fishy. I like having that.

I've just never run into an issue until now where a player being traded is in a game where he will be traded AFTER his game.

Would yahoo just not allow either team start TY?

From what I'm reading, if players are involved in a Thursday night game and the trade goes through after the Thursday night game, the trade won't be processed until Tuesday. Anyone know if this is true?

I don't know what will happen if the person who currently has Hilton uses him... I assume the trade would just get processed next week once all the games are finished.
I've never had to deal with this as my main league the commish vetoes/accepts all trades so they get pushed through within 24 hours. I think we've only ever had 1 trade vetoed in the 7 years of this league. But I'm with Azu if this is with friends I don't get why you should have to wait 2-3 days for a trade to go through.

The guy who gets Hilton will need to factor this into his value. The guy who has Hilton now, will get his stats for week 5, and the roster update won't process until Tuesday morning. With the timing of this trade, Hilton's value should essentially be lowered like 5-10% since that guy misses out on a game. This is from a public league trade that was made involving Hopkins (same situation)...

Note: This trade will be processed on Saturday, Oct 10 for Week 5. If the traded players have already played in Week 5 and were in a starting lineup, then the trade will be processed for Week 6 instead.

At the same time, the guy dealing AWAY the players...can still use them for week 5 as well...so it really only comes into a "fairness" situation when you're talking about bye weeks or 2 or 3 guys for 1 where not every player was a starter anyway.

I think the right thing to do as commissioner would be to allow this trade to go through today since no one vetoed it. But is that over stepping my powers?

As a commish, I usually process it when the intent is clear to want the player now.

What it someone tears an ACL and the trade is already accepted and pending? Then you have an even more controversial decision to make.

My league...both people text/email the commish, he asks 3 random other owners (to get a majority of 6) and if nobody rejects, he processes it immediately.

That's not how I read it.

I read this:
Note: This trade will be processed on Saturday, Oct 10 for Week 5. If the traded players have already played in Week 5 and were in a starting lineup, then the trade will be processed for Week 6 instead.
to mean that the trade won't be processed until next week because by Saturday a traded player will have already played in Week 5.

Similar to mine. I'm commish and when I get a trade alert I text the league and if a majority of those not involved has a legitimate basis to veto the trade, it's vetoed. Otherwise I process it immediately too.

I don't think it's overstepping your powers so long as both players agree that the trade should go through immediately.

No the players who are being traded will count for their original owners this week so the original TY guy will get him.
