Hope you get to the bottom of this.

Here's the issue as of now there are 3 different systemsthat are being used to submit a bus request. The main office has to combine all 3 system request into a singleschedule and assign drivers. To solvethis the district needs to run one software program that will cross referencethrough out the district. My AD has aprogram that will do that however the district didn't want to purchase it. We have to hope that some good will come fromthis bad experience that WR had to go throw so they can get it right.

On to something we as wrestling coaches should take a goodlook at. There were a total of 128 kidsthat wrestled in our league tournament of which 23 are now DQ's. without taking away the kids that didn'twrestle in sectionals we had 18% of our kids moving on. Most of these kids started wrestling oncethey got to our schools and a few started in the rec center program. Think for a minute what those numbers wouldlook like if we can get kids started at an earlier age and start havingcombined offseason training and camps here at our own schools? The last camp I can recall hosted by a Cityschool was MF about 4 or 5 years ago. Weshould come together and have a spring club open to everyone and target our innercity kids that will be attending our schools. I understand that some of you guys coach other sports in the Spring andFall but if we set this up right every coach wont have to be at the trainingsessions. With all the connections andexperience we have as coaches there's no reason why we can't provide highquality training for our kids. We need to set a date and have a planningmeeting so we can make this happen. So giveme your feedback and let me know what you think.

I think the biggest challenge here is getting our kids to the thing. For numbers purposes, it'd be great to have an "all city league" camp, or open mat. But, how do we get kids from the west side (or, should I say..."west sy eed") over the Marion Franklin, or the Northland kids down to West? I think we all know "mom and dad" aren't driving them. This is also the biggest challenge to getting our kids to open mats. Sure...they can take the bus, but that's easier said than done. Love the idea though, and am willing to pitch in. But, the location needs to be thought out.

East would be a good location...centrally located with nice facilities. We could bring in guest clinicians as well. Sounds great, but needs support from city coaches!

About 5 years ago, I hosted a city only camp at marion franklin. I made the fee 5$ which went directly back to buying oranges and water for the kids that came. I had a few of my buddies that I wrestled with in college, and a few Central district coaches, donate their time to show up and show technique. Some high level guys. Needless to say, the turnout wasn't the best. As a matter of fact, I invited the Groveport guys over to fill the room. In the past few years i have come to realize that you can't "want it" more that the athletes do. Over the past 10 years I ran open mats at Marion Franklin at times that were convenient for Marion-Franklin Kids because I knew that they would never come back to the school at 6pm for an open mat. I found it terribly odd. There were rarely any other kids from different schools because open mats were literally at 3pm. There are too many city kids making too many excuses in my opinion. Those that have put in the extra time and extra effort will be wrestling in March. I stressed that every year, and only a few seem to get it. I hope that some of the kids in the city buy in to these open mats and extra curricular camps and opportunities that they are surrounded by. I know for a fact that there are coaches in Central Ohio that are more than happy to help our city guys out. Make a list of the guys going to districts this week and I will show you a list of guys that have worked extra hard in the off season and are willing to hit up open mat on their own. I'm sure that most of the coaches that are on here go the extra mile, isn't it time for some of the kids to step up and make that extra effort as well? Transportation should not be ann issue, our guys have a free bus pass for gods sake. I don't mean to rant, but the best guys I had in the past, Boyd, Caldwell, Ryman, Palmer, Parkham, Monroe, Summers, Tatum I, TatumII, Johnson, Bidlack, Jones they all committed and wrestled in off season summer matches, attended camps to get better. No one showed up for an hour and a half and won a district title. They took the initiative. Therein lies the issue, for me at least.

Arguably the Best Wrestler in the City Is Alec Mills. What did he do all summer? What is he doing now? Oh yeah, He is crushing people. Is he the most athletic? Probably not. Is he the most talented? Probably not. Is he the most well off? Probably not. Is he the most committed? Probably.. Coincidence?

Love Mills to death. Great Kid and hard worker, and always respectful. Has a dream or rather a goal and has put in the time to achieve it! I am rooting for him, would love to have 10 Mills in my room.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of my kids Gabe Valentin is the only one that would have went to open mats and New Albany with or without me being his transportation, not a coincidence that he is by far our best kid this year. Alec Mills was a fixture in the Ready open mats, and that was combined with him balancing a summer baseball schedule with open mats, the most impressed I was by a kid this sumemr was little Aden from West. That kid was at almost every Ready and Whitehall open mats, New Albany duals and Ashland U. Duals and when Coach Russell was not able to get him somewhere, he manned up and used that COTA pass.

I see quite a few guys in DII got some wins yesterday. Also I see that Mifflin has 3 in the semisthis afternoon nice job! I'll take thisone stage at a time: We know that Mills, Tate and Robinson are now districtplacers when was the last time a CCL team had multiple district placers? It looks like a few other guys can wrestle back and make it into the placement round.

congrats to those young men and their coach's for the work thus far but getting there is never enough in my book win two to place. I think tate robinson monroe and paco should go balls out to get on the podium you never know what can happen just dont let the ten mats and thousands of people bother you its still a wrestling mat go handle business like you guys have done all year long. Cant wait to see you guys down at the schott.

It is quite an experience being there, walking through the tunnel, seeing all the mats/fans, etc..! Getting on the podium is always the goal, however, and I think the city qualifiers all have a good shot at it!!

Hey all, just wanted to put it out there early. We are planning on hosting the BULLDOG DUALS December 7th, 2013. Wanted to offer it to all city teams first. Cap of 10 teams. Last year we had Mifflin, Centennial, Linden, Africentric, South, Beechcroft and Brookhaven as city representatives. In addition we brought in Ashland Crestview, Ashland B Team, and Olentangy Orange B Team. Would love to make it an all city affair and the unofficial Dual City Championship, so get on board!

Last years winner was Olentangy Orange B Team.

Looking at you Whetstone, Marion Franklin, Independence, East, Northland, Walnut Ridge, West and Briggs. :D

That’s not a bad ideal but a little early in the season tobe talking about a league dual championship. There are two different ways that I see we could do this:

First Little Big Man are you open to moving your tournamentto a later date because that would help out a lot with scheduling?

Option 1:
All the teams that want to be in the tournament cometogether have a seeding meeting place the teams on the bracket and have a oneday 16 team dual tournament. At the endof the day we shall have a League Team Dual Champ.

Option 2
First we move our December duals to January. Secondly, in lateDecember or early January we have two sites one at South and someone else pickup the second site. We come together andseed all of our teams 1-16. Each sitewill have 8 teams with two pools top two in each pool wrestle for sitechampionship.

The following week or when ever we schedule it we have ourregular league duals during the week all the 5-16 teams based on how theyfinished the prior week wrestle at 3 sites for overall placement. Then have the top 4 teams meet on a Saturday towrestle for the top 4 placement spots and we crown a league dual team championthat night.

That’s a total of 3 points and we'll have a leaguedual team champion. Depending on howcoaches make out their schedules some of us may have to drop a tournament andreplace it with our site tournament. I thinkthat quite a few teams already wrestle at the south tournament. We might need to set a date to meet at Planksor some other location maybe over break and talk about this and set some dates.I think that if we come together and have a plan then the powers at 17th justmight go along with it.

I like that idea alot. I would be willing to host it, December 27th and 28th good for everyone? Two pools like Chuck said. We can seed based on the 2013 City Championship finish. Thoughts?

I will still run the Bulldog Duals on the 7th of December.

I don't know about everyone else but I usually have a fewkids out during Christmas break. I'mhoping that it will be a lot better next season but I can only go on previousyears experience. Instead of using two days and 3 points why don’twe just have it on December 28th or January 18th or 25th. If we get all the coaches together now thenwe can adjust our schedules as needed for next season.
