I'd recommend trying fasting, but it takes a little time to properly build up to it. The first few days of anything like this will be miserable. I know it's cliche, but you can't view it as a "short-term" solution.

Fruit, in heavy doses will make you and keep you fat. It's a fat promoter. If you're going to attempt something like that, focus more on the veggies and incorporate certain fats and proteins into the mix.

Ever seen the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead? Pretty compelling. Makes me want to do a fruit and veggies cleanse myself for a couple days. Just to see how I would feel.
It's worth it! Great documentary.

Instead of doing a fruit and veggie cleanse, you should do a fruit and veggie smoothie cleanse. Set out to do 6 days of smoothies. That's all you take in. Make the smoothies and drink all day long. There's really no limit to how much you can drink, just drink until you don't want anymore. Then...pick some more up when you get hungry again. The smoothie is because your body digests and gets the benefits easier/quicker in liquid form instead of solids.

You can basically make the smoothies any way you want with fruits and veggies. A lot of spinach and/or kale. But, then you can mix the berries or whatever fruit in however you wish. All you need is a juicer really and you are good to go. I've wanted to do this as well, but I have never gotten around to it.

Please do not listen to this post. Unless you are not chewing your food at all, a smoothie is a waste of time. More "broscience".

I'd say that eating only fruits and veggies for a week would be better for you than eating processed food during that time.
But lacking protein does not sound good to me.

You have a low threshold for trolling. Sorry for calling someone out who has no idea what he's talking about. Let's have a forum where facts and evidence are non-existent and call it God.

You already created that user name, try again. For someone who normally doesn't eat healthy, there is much more upside to this than downside. He'll be getting nutrients he normally doesn't get and afterwards can incorporate them into his diet if he likes the effect the cleanse has.

You on the other hand offer no advice and just talk about "broscience" as if you're an expert nutritionist with 5% body fat...stfu already.

Explain to me how a fat soluble vitamin gets absorbed into the body without the presence of fat. Explain to me how eating nothing but minerals, vitamins, and fiber for a week "cleanses" the body. Explain to me how ignoring macro nutrients like fat and protein for a week does the body any good.

I did provide advice. I told him if he truly wants a cleanse; that he should fast for a 4-5 days. That's long enough that your body will have to start using body fat to sustain itself and body fat is where a majority of toxins exist.

Ask ETB I heard he was an expert on cleanses. I've never tried them though.

How hard is it to add oil and protein powder to a shake? Wow so tough right there! What's the point of fasting if he's not changing what he eats, absolutely nothing.

I agree. Diets never work unless its a long term solution. Also, adding oil and protein powder to a shake eliminates the idea behind only eating fruits and veggies for 7 days. I said it doesn't work, it's stupid, and it comes from people who don't know anything about nutrition.

What is the point of changing what he eats for only 4 or 5 days?

Do you dive right into something or try it first and see if you like it? For someone who doesn't eat healthy, there's no harm in trying something for a week, seeing if you like it, then tweaking it to work long term for you.

Right, because we have to give permission for SAL to go on this veggie/fruit cleanse. He's asking for advice and we told him collectively that its a stupid idea.

If you tell him with all your user names you could be considered the collective...but other than that it's just you calling it bro science saying it's completely pointless. "There's only one way to do things and that's the way I do them, everything else is stupid "broscience"" smh.

Pretty much. If I didn't know anything about the subject I wouldn't post in the thread. I would simply write something like "Let me ask He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named, I think he used to run a nutrition clinic on body cleansing."

Eh, sleeper has contributed some information as well. I think he could be a tad less abrasive. But there isn't necessarily any trolling here. Just appears that some people have differing opinions which happens.

read labels and stay away from items that are high in "calories from fat", and exercise...your body will take care of the cleansing itself
