"Men/Man/Mankind" has colloquially referred to both sexes since before this country was a thing.
And what if there WAS a woman on the crew? Whoop-de-fucking-do. The sign indicates the same thing: 'Be careful. A road crew is working on the road.'
What, does she think the primary function of the sign is to accurately identify the sum total of the people working? Does she think the sign says something different to the drivers to whom it is shown than if it said:
'People at work'
-or-
'An indeterminate number of genders represented by the people at work'
Fuck's sake, lady.

Hope they don't ever have a dog on-site. They'll need to change the sign to make sure it's inclusive.

True story...
My sister worked on a road crew one summer. It was part time, nights and weekends so she could work around her full time job.
She was just holding the stop/slow sign.
She had some woman once lean out her window and ask my sister if it bothered her that the sign said "men working" when she was a woman?
My Sister: No, not at all.
Woman: Why not?
My Sister: Because I am not a moron.
Yeah, she has no problem stating her feelings/opinions directly, lol.

Damn fine school. Nice that they have a Sociology department so that nitwits can be represented in the otherwise smart student-body.

In “media are the enemy of the people” part a million, these morons are sharing a video from 2018 that they already fake outraged over then, to fake outrage over again because they have ran out of things to complain about. The video shows Trump calling MS-13 animals, but the headlines try saying he is talking about all asylum seekers. Not only is the media sharing this, the blue check brigade is also (even buttligeg mayor guy, joy reid, some other congressmen).

So in the "things that make you go hmmmmmm......" category:
Even if the joke is painfully obvious [and not really that funny], Kimmel/Fallon/Colbert ALL told basically identical jokes about Trump firing the HS Secretary "....she wanted to take more time to separate her own family". Literally all three had "separate her family" as the punchline, verbatim.

Either the joke is just THAT obvious, or someone's sharing notes.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/09/uk/waitrose-ducklings-scli-intl-gbr/index.html
UK grocery chain Waitrose has apologized after being accused of racism over the names of three chocolate ducklings. The "Waitrose Trio of Chocolate Easter Ducklings" contains a white, milk and dark chocolate version, which were named "Fluffy," "Crispy" and "Ugly" respectively. A Twitter user questioned why Waitrose had chosen to call the darkest duckling "Ugly." "Overheard women saying 'this is not right,' I agree, doesn't look good at all," wrote Livia A. Aliberti on March 7.
Waitrose has since apologized in a short statement seen by CNN. "We are very sorry for any upset caused by the name of this product, it was absolutely not our intention to cause any offence," reads the statement. "We removed the product from sale several weeks ago while we changed the labeling and our ducklings are now back on sale." One possible explanation for the naming is a reference to the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale "The Ugly Duckling."
The story features an unfortunate young duckling who is bullied by all of those around him before turning into a swan. Aliberti thanked Waitrose for changing the packaging in another tweet Tuesday.

Eh, I'd hardly mark "important news" as the benchmark for what gets posted in this forum. At least half the links wouldn't be here if it were.

Probably a combination of "very obvious", "low-hanging fruit", "being too lazy to find something more original" with perhaps a bit of "sharing notes" included.

AG Barr really triggered the regressives yesterday.
Look, they attempted to embed operatives in the campaign, use operatives to bait traps, wiretap phones, etc.....all without the usual steps of informing Trump - most people would call that spying (or perhaps entrapment). If it walks like a duck....
The Dems appear to be kind of blindsided by this. Nunes and a few others had pretty much set the table for over a year that when the investigation found nothing, we were going to look at how this all started.

Well, they're there because there are a lot of high paying jobs, they like the weather, they like all of the nature/beauty, the like to do outdoor stuff (mountains, ocean), they like the international vibe of some of the big cities (LA and SF), they want to take advantage of top notch public schools, etc. It's not for everyone obviously, but there is a reason that almost 15% of the US population lives there.

I wonder how long they have been holding this info.

California could be a great state, but the first bolded part is not why most people are there. High salary, but they are being pummeled in the ass by taxes. Bryce Harper turned down SF, because of the taxes. In SF if your family brings in $117K, you can qualify for low income status. Also, to the second bolded part, this might be true now, but California also has the highest outbound rate of any state in the country. I believe they are #2 or #3. People are getting out, because the policies there are making it unaffordable. California could easily be the best state in this country, but unfortunately the lawmakers there are driving people out.

Seems like over a year ago that Nunes made a trip to the WH to look at a bunch of files, and said he was alarmed by what he saw. This was specifically to FISA requests and unmasking, and some other things. Schiff and Dems threw a fit, and Nunes had to recuse.
And then McCabe testified, some time ago, maybe 8-9 months or more, that without the dossier they would not have pursued the FISA warrants.
I remember at least one procedural thing reported, back early in 2017, that in the final days the Obama administration fixed it to disseminate and broaden access to a bunch of this stuff......so that it wouldn't be "covered-up and buried" by the Trump team. But in hindsight I think we can see the purpose there was to facilitate leaking [of manufactured evidence likely known to be fake].
So arguably much more smoke here than there ever was of Trump collusion. But a few players have already been fired, and I'm not sure we'll see much more come of this other than handslaps for some partisans in the DOJ who got out in front of their skis.

I'm assuming you mean the surrounding area. The city itself smells like it rains piss.
Also, the high paying jobs are more than counterbalanced by the cost of living. I have a lot of family near LA, and they get jealous when I tell them how affordable things are here. Hell, my entire mortgage is for less than my aunt's and uncle's down payment on their home. Now, admittedly, my home is cheap even for here, but it's possible to find that here. Not there.
The universities out there are great, though. Cal Tech, UC Irvine, Stanford, UCLA, and such have great academic programs with regard to STEM, math, etc.
You're also right about the weather and landscape. You could conceivably do practically anything you'd want to do out there.
It's a nice state. Expensive if you don't have the kind of job that helps with the cost, but it's definitely nice.
