I don’t think Trump would have affected Putin’s actions one iota. Trump desperately sought the guy’s approval for Christ’s sake. Neither would Obama, W, Bubba, or Bush Sr.
Put your fanboy love aside and realize that we haven’t had a leader equipped to deal with the likes of Putin for a long time. This is a concerning trend in our politics,
I'm not sure what Biden could do differently, or what would be a better course of action.
And as I've said many times, POTUS makes the final call, but he is HEAVILY influenced by career staffers, right down to the speeches. Same goes for every other POTUS. President is basically a cheerleader and policy shill.
Also, the weapons "Trump gave" to Ukraine were actually approved by the prior administration. That was the big scandal that Trump tried to delay/prevent it to pressure Ukraine to investigate Biden.

Bingo. Instead we get BS from presidents that - fill in the enemy - hates our freedom or hates democracy or whatever, proving they have no understanding of historical context. This is why we get involved in centuries old conflicts and wonder why they turn into clusterfucks.
The Russians and Ukrainians should be left to figure this out. We’re not going to do anything - and aren’t capable of doing anything - to make a difference. This predates the US by hundreds of years.

Unfortunately this is not going to happen. US diplomats and NATO staff have relocated from the capital Kiev to Lviv which is less than 40 miles from the Polish border. The Carpathian mountains extend through several NATO countries into the Ukraine just to the south. Extra NATO troop deployments have been made to two of those nations. Poland and Romania.
The British prime minister has stated "it is in our collective interest that Russia should ultimately fail and be seen to fail". Western leaders know they can't stop an invasion directly but are currently plotting to heavily arm the resistance and there will be a resistance. The aid will likely flow through a couple of those NATO countries that border Ukraine on the west.
Buckle up, put in the ear buds, and listen to black sabbath "war pigs". Just about sums it up.
