Our own (leftist) government purposefully makes our own energy too expensive to use. If you stop right there and consider that, and its ripple effect on the economy and The People, you should easily discern how incredibly disturbing that is. The sheer ignorance and/or arrogance of those leading us down this path is beyond measure.

1. I am personally not a fan of tariffs.
2. I said IF tariffs kept jobs here why wouldn’t you be for them? It is still being studied if Trump’s tariffs on China and Mexico steel/aluminum did any good or harm.
3. Tariffs are not “communist”. One of the first laws passed by the US government after the Revolutionary war ended was the Tariff Act of 1789. It was made to protect US manufacturers and raise federal money. Until the early 1900s when income tax was created tariffs were about 95% of the federal revenue.

What if one believes in free market capitalism for their country and not having free market trade around the whole world? One can have free market capitalism for their country and charge tariffs for imported goods.
That’s what the US did for the first 170+ years of its existence.

Then stop with the horrific, one-sided trade agreements that hamstrung the U.S. and caused the offshoring. And at the same time, go tell China to lift their import taxes so there really is a level playing field. You can't have it both ways.

Yes, it is possible to be a capitalist for your country, nothing about capitalism says you have to trade freely with other countries. It’s about free markets in your own country.
