Is that a college and not pro thing?

per this site
If the foul happens less than 15 yards from the line of scrimmage, the ball is placed at the spot of the foul, and the offense gets an automatic first down.
If the foul occurs 15 or more yards downfield, the penalty is capped at 15 yards, but the offense still gets a first down.
Exceptions:
If the foul is committed on a play snapped from inside the 17-yard line, the ball won’t be placed closer than the 2-yard line.
OR
Inside the 2-yard line: The offense gets a first down, and the ball moves half the distance to the goal.
so... yes, in the given context, the PI call was enforced correctly. whether it was PI or not is up for discussion.
pretty sure the NFL rules are different. they are spot fouls iirc, but they might have other exceptions.

The 17 and 2 exception is random but I get it
The 17 yardline rule is just because college they spot fouls like this at the 2 not the 1 like the NFL does.
And no, it is the same as NFL. NFL would never be half the distance on the defense. They would spot it at the 1, not the 2, but the rule would be applied the same in NFL.
Thanks for the explanations that college PI is not a half the distance penalty, unless the line of scrimmage is the 2 yd line or closer to the goal.
Carson Beck heading to the U

Crazy that he went from entering the draft to the U. He is an average college QB who I don’t see doing much in the NFL. I bet his NIL deal is fat though.

Yep…Miami spent most of their Ward NIL and Beck hoping Miami’s offense can propel, or at least cash in a bit mir

I don’t see the U as a long term major NIL player. There is some flashy money associated with it, but unless a Natty happens in the next couple of years, I think they will fall back to a very mediocre program.

Saw a graphic that Beck with a ceiling of Daniel Jones and floor of Will Levis in the NFL. If that's the case, stay in college as long as humanly possible because it's all going downhill the minute you're in the pros.

What room is that, a crawl space where you’re crouched the whole time?
McCord gave up on his weird NCAA waiver request and has opted to go pro.

Possible. Definitely a place a claustrophobic would HATE.
I think Beck is smart actually. Idk where he’d go in the draft but compare him to Stetson Bennett who went 4-5th round and makes a bit over 1 million annually. Beck has to be making more than that to go to Miami.
I’m seeing $4 million rumored to go to Miami.

Right, he’d probably go 4th ish. So why not stay in college and try and move that up while still getting paid.

Also: He apparently is banging one of the Cavender twins, who is playing women's basketball there, so pretty much everything pointed towards it being a better decision to be there instead of being some random third-string/practice squad QB in the pros until no one signs him after the latest release.
Good result on the Buckeyes first drive. Survived a dropped TD pass and completed a throw that was tipped twice, one at the LS and also by the defender in front of the receiver.
Loved how he picked up his teammate
Just go sit on the bench Henderson …just fucking sit there
