The Mooney kicker was just as much the MVP of that game as was Heard...he kept us pinned at the 20 the entire game.
That is what made our 2005 team so great...we had a kicker who put the ball into the endzone on most kickoffs. That is a HUGE advantage in hs football.

I wasn't just thinking of a punter but of an extra point kicker. Last year extra points were an adventure. I wish we had Jones back. He broke the state record for consecutive extra points.
We could also use a field goal kicker. A guy like that could come in very handy in a close game. Isn't there anybody on the soccer team that would qualify?

Well kickers can improve a lot in one year. Rose, the kicker on the 05 team, was horrid in 04.
I'm sure the coaching staff already has it figured out.

It's Iggy v Don Bosco at noon, Big Red v Morgantown around 3:30, and Wheeling Central v Bridgeport in the evening game.

So Fairwood, how does it feel to be back in your home town 1 month before football kicks off knowing you are going to actually watch a game live since who knows when? Two more questions for ya... 1) Have you bought any new gear yet for the season and 2) what do you think of the new bleachers at the stadium since you can see them for yourself now?

That picture was taken at FWK's new apartment on Sunset. Snyds helped him move in.

1) I haven't bought any new gear yet. I still have a lot of stuff including a really nice Big Red jacket Reno gave my Dad a few years ago.
2) The new bleachers look sharp. I just wish the school had replaced all four sides this year.

On a brighter note, let's talk about the stadium. The new west end stands really look sharp. Yes, the new stands seat 116 fewer people than the old bleachers, but that's the price of progress. When the entire stadium is renovated, it will probably comfortably seat 9000. That's still a big stadium by anyone's definition. If my memory serves me right, we have only sold out the stadium three times in the past 20 years, so having a seating capacity of 10,000 is not an urgency.
I'm also excited about the new press box. It will really be spectacular.
I also noticed that there is a portable concession stand set up in the visitors' area. It is badly needed.

This time of year is always slow for everyone. It will pick back up in full force after the first full contact scrimmage.
