Does anyone know what the 7th, 8th, 9th, and reserve schedules look like? Rollredroll has not posted them yet. I am only curious because we may be playing New Philly on the lower levels in advance of playing their varsity next year. I also think it is strange that we play Canton McKinley every year on every level except varsity. When are our varsity teams going to start playing?

I would like to see Big Red play McKinley again, and I'm sorry that the game with Warren Harding didn't materialize. It would be good to play the teams from the old All-American Conference again. I'm glad we're playing Massillon and that we beat them last year. That game certainly broke the jinx.

If the Morgantown game is not official, I vote for adding Cameron, Bishop Donahue, or Beallsville in that spot. Perhaps even Hundred. Too many tough games on the schedule.

Check your eyes old man, they have been posted, along with Harding, for months.

That would mean dropping someone off the schedule at a very late date. I've never seen Reno do that before.

How are all these rumors getting started? I will still put my money on the schedule the school released. I don't think there will be any changes.

Fairwood, do a simple google search and you will find articles talking about these games....even a direct quote by Iggy's coach about playing Bosco in Steubenville.

I'm sure we won't ditch Buchtel unless they have another game, just like last year when we got them into the Rally in the Valley so that we could play Woodland Hills.

This will be a great event for Steubenville if it all comes together. With our fanbase and facilities we should be hosting these types of events on a yearly basis. Holding it in Wheeling last year was not a very good business decision in my mind, since the city of Wheeling doesn't really have a passion for HS football.

Thanks,

There was a PD article with the Dwyer guy talking to Iggy's coach, and he said that were going to play in Steubenville vs Bosco in the afternoon. I'm sorry, I didn't save the link.

BigRed1995 here ya go.....

Per Eddie Dwyer's report on the Ignatius website:

'CATS VERSUS DON BOSCO PREP STILL IN THE WORKS: Saint Ignatius Athletic Director Rory Fitzpatrick '88 and Coach Kyle have both confirmed that the Wildcats are still making every effort to play nationally acclaimed Don Bosco Prep in Week 5 of the upcoming football season.

Coach Kyle said during Wednesday's first summer mini camp that the discussion now includes playing the game in Steubenville, Ohio, probably in the afternoon.

AND SPEAKING OF WEDNESDAY'S MINI CAMP: Coach Kyle introduced two new members to his staff – Elvis Grbac and Rory Hennessey '01.

This corner had the privilege of covering Coach Grbac when he excelled in both football and basketball at St. Joseph High School (now Villa Angela-St. Joseph). Elvis went on to an outstanding career as the quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines and he played in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2000, a season that saw him pass for 4,169 yards and 28 touchdowns while playing for the Chiefs.

Elvis, who will be assisting Wildcats veteran offensive coordinator Nick Restifo with the quarterbacks and tight ends, has a son who will be a freshman at Saint Ignatius this coming school year. However, Elvis revealed that his son's favorite sports are basketball and baseball. That will be just fine with Coach Sean O'Toole '87 and Coach Brad Ganor.

Hennessey is a household name at Saint Ignatius and another former Wildcat that the corner had the privilege of covering during his exceptional athletic career.

Rory garnered Plain Dealer All-Star honors as an interior lineman for the 'Cats in 2000 and earned Associated Press All-Northeast Lakes District honors and AP Honorable Mention All-Ohio recognition. During his senior year, Rory also was a force on Saint Ignatius' Division I state-championship basketball team.

After graduating from Saint Ignatius, Rory went on to Yale, where he became a four-year starter at left tackle. He was a captain for the Bulldogs in 2004, did not give up a sack in his entire college career and was a two-time All-Ivy League first-team selection and a two-time All-American.

I just stopped by Harding Stadium and watched the West Endzone become history. The crane had half the bleachers torn down when it started to rain hard again. It looks like some serious renovation has begun. Other plans called for railings centered on all the aisles. This would involve one less seat on each end of each row. I Don't know if that plan is still valid or not as there would be some very disgruntled season ticket holders.
When I next see Mr. Bauman, I may find out how much change we can expect to see.
Cheers.

There is no question about it, Steubenville does have a passion for high school football. I hope all these rumors are true, even though I'm a bit skeptical. No matter what happens, this will be an exciting year for Big Red football and I plan to do everything in my power to be there. My house in Seattle is up for sale. As soon as I sell it, I will be Steubenville bound.

Thanks for the warning. ;)

Seriously, though, best of luck selling your house in this market. Maybe Obama will buy it off of you. He could call it "Fairwood socialization"!!

Yes, it is aluminum.....and they are only supposed to do the Big Red endzone this year (unless the plans have changed). In the following years they will do the other 3 sides.
