Did I mention bailouts anywhere? Did I ever say that Bush wasn't fiscally liberal for that matter? You liberals never have an answer to points like this except that Bush did it too. Bush's policies continued the government takeover of our economy that began with FDR. Obama is just trying to finish the job in his first term.

If there are 100 issues and someone votes 25 on the liberal side and 75 on the conservative side they are not a liberal in any way.

Now I guess if someone voted on 100 issue and only 5 were on the liberal side the person that voted 25 would think that they were a liberal.

That is why this test shows there is more to all the issues than left right and covers the topics governments tackle not just the "hot" topics.

There is a difference between liberal and less conservative. Calling someone who is less conservative liberal is limited thinking.

Ok, I guess the bailouts are included in there. Bush did it too. But Bush did not take over GM. Obama did. Bush did not take over the health care industry. Obama will. Bush's bailout, as stupid as it was, was to buy the toxic assets from the banks. Obama then took over the bailout, and decided to take over parts of these banks. You can't seriously tell me that Bush was the only one to take over private industries.

Also, I don't really care about the labels. To me a liberal means a fiscal liberal. I don't care about their stance on abortion or gay marriage or whatever nonsense the government doesn't need to be involved in anyway. There is no doubt that Obama is a fiscal liberal.

Obama is less authoritarian than Bush and much of the republican party but that does not indicate he is therefore libertarain or liberal in his thinking. He is simply less authoritarian, but still an authoritarian.

This test is about eliminating narrow thinking. Narrow thinking would be Republicans are conservative therefore democrats are liberal. This simply is not true when you take into account all the issues out there.

IF someone wants to say compared to republicans Obama is a liberal I understand but that is not a complete picture of what is going on.

So many people view politics as a dichotomy...in other words, "I am a conservative and you are not...that means you are a liberal."

If this test does one thing, it helps to break that thinking.

I refuse to take this test. I've take similar tests in the past...and I view the questions themselves to be leading and fraudulent.

Example...one must answer questions in the absolute...i.e. black or white, whenever gray is the more accurate responce.

Answering in the positive regarding nation building and intervention inappropriately pushes one to the left. I find that to be grossly misleading. Old school conservatives are in fact conservatives...and do not believe in pre-emptive force, intervention, and nation building.

I consider the level of government power over the individual political line much more accurate than the left-right line BS that we use. On one side of the government power line is anarchy and the other is authoritarianism.

This is where we were at following the Constitution ratification.

Authoritarianism ...........X....Anarchy - Lots of self responsibility while having enough order controls to protect liberty from a Darwinian survival of the fittest.

This is where we are now.

Aurthoritarianism.....X..........Anarchy - Much more government control over the decision of the individual and a diminishing of natural rights.
