Hell, Bush was the beginning of the hijacking of the party. Well, not really, but the Repubs have been hijacked for a very long time and they are no different than the Dems in the sense that they want big government spending, just on different programs. For Repubs it was Homeland Security and military spending. For Dems it's social entitlement programs. Both are wrong and both should be eliminated from Washington by voting them out.

Eric Cantor made a good point today. Political leaders deal with threats all the time, they just don't exploit them for political purposes. Any violence or threat of such is wrong whenever it happens.

The danger of what the Dems are doing is saying, "See, people who don't like health care are violent, racist, and out of control wackos." Then again they'll exploit anything if it accomplishes their agenda (lady with breast cancer, kid whose mom died recently, poor people in general, etc.).

Frum has been dumping on his colleagues beliefs for about 6 months now. It all started when he melted down over the garbage being spewed by Rush Limbaugh. He had a reality check momemt.

Yes indeed...this is quite remarkable. Getting frothy mouthed and throwing bricks through windows on a bill nobody has read or understands......but nary a peep on the human slaughter in Mesopotamia. It is quite remarkable to me as well.

Not that remarkable at all. People only get engaged when they perceive the policies of their government directly affect them. There was no direct tax to pay for the war, no rationing, no official declaration of war, and no military draft (one of the top reasons the Vietnam War protesters got engaged in opposition).

You also can't discount the anger many felt after 9/11. I was ready to lay waste to the whole Middle East. Prior to 9/11 there was nary a peep on the human slaughter that had been going on in Mesopotamia prior to our involvement. The war in Iraq is over. There is no organized resistance left to fight us.

Your insinuation that bad foreign policy by the federal government somehow nullifies peoples opposition to their perceived view of bad domestic policy acts by the same government doesn't hold water. You can't fault people for taking action when they feel government policy affects them directly.
