anyone know how this works for next season if the cavs want Z back and he wants to come back. could they in theory sign him to a big contract and have another expiring? i assume no. it won't matter since the league will pass some sort of rule about players not being able to return to their team after a trade but im curious as to how much they could pay him.

They don't want to pay him. That is the whole problem. The only reason why they want him this year is cause LBJ wants him there, not to mention he could help us in the playoff's but I really believe we could get it done w/o him. I want him back for the same reason. I like the guy and feel if Cleveland wins a ring he should too.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

I couldn't be happier to have Z back. Someone who had to live through the days of Bimbo Coles, Ricky Davis, Clarence Weatherspoon, Chris Gatling, etc. 100 percent deserves to get a ring. Z is the Cleveland Cavaliers, there's a reason Danny Ferry got choked up when they traded him. Obviously we could probably win without him but some of you are very quick to forget the things Z brings to the table. It's not as if he's an absolute stiff out there, when his jumper is on he makes the team very dangerous offensively. I mean let's just go back to the night the Goosey officially entered the Cavalier lexicon: (sorry for the poor quality)

You are wrong imo. LeBron wanted Z back, of course everyone did. But Cleveland has the ability to go with some unique lineups with Z on the roster, this was the main reason to get him back to Cleveland. When Cleveland ran both Z/Shaq against the Lakers, it caused them fits in the paint and their bigs were frustrated. Its just more options to throw out on the floor and it makes Cleveland even more dangerous.

Z, although declining, is still one of the better offensive rebounders around the rim just because of his size at 7'3. He also still has the ability to hit jumpers. You can never have too many bigs when going into the playoffs, Cleveland will be loaded at that position.

Money isn't an issue with Cleveland and Gilbert, just isn't.

It's pretty amazing really how much the Cavs have built up the 4/5 considering how depleted it was last year at this time. I mean, we were counting on Sasha to be a defensive savior in the Orlando series. Now, when completely healthy, we'll have Z, Shaq, Jamison, Hickson, Andy, and Powe. Pretty stacked.

Jawad has made the most of his minutes, one thing is for sure he isn't afraid to launch the rock, from anywhere on the floor. I'm assuming D. Jackson will be off the roster for Z's return? Danny Green?

Nooo, the FO feels that Danny Green will become a piece of the main rotation in a year or two of development. He will definitely be staying, he was a guy they were looking at before the draft and were thankful he fell to them in the 2nd round.

Jackson will be gone.

I agree, I think Jawad should have some consideration for the most improved player award. I don't think he should win it because there are guys that change the game a lot more than he does--but he deserves a part of the discussion. He's clearly improved. He's on the best team in the NBA, and he's already played in 34 more games than he did last year.

2 MPG last year, 13.5 this year on a deeper roster.

D-Block needs to go somewhere else anyways, he needs to find a rotation he can get into and see what kind of career he can have.

MEDIA: Burt07 declares 93% of the Cavs current fan base doesn't deserve a ring.

D. Jackson should have a career, maybe not on this team, but he should be seeing minutes in he league, even if not a starter.

Agreed. The way he dominates the D-League is enough for him to get minutes on a lesser team. We're just stacked in the post.

Not sure how many times he played D-league this season...I thought he was pouring in like 30+ when he was though, yeah, that's good enough.

I could see Jackson being let go and then picked up this summer by the Cavs if Z/Shaq retire.

I would say that if they release Jackson, he won't be coming back to the Cavs. Someone else will definitely pick him up.

So, essentially, we replaced Darnell Jackson with Antwan Jamison.

I know you couldn't fight your way out of a wet paper bag, but fight your way out of that one Footwedge.

Jackson is younger and has way more potential, his PER is probably better.

I can see Jackson being like Shannon Brown, a solid 7th or 8th man for a decent team next season.

Also, Jackson was on the team last year which automatically makes him better than Jamison.
