It totally amazes me that people are not aware of their surroundings when in the ocean, woods or other wild place.
It also is beyond me why people would choose to let the family pets run loose and be shocked that Fluffy or Fido were eaten by a pack of coyotees.

Friend of mine had visitors from out of state that brought their dog along for the ride, a little puntable pooch. Despite the warnings from my buddy, not to leave the dog unnattended, as there were raptors that would find this little dog appealing, they let the dog out to poop while standing at the door. Imagine their horror at watching Fifi being carted off by a bird of prey to be consumed in the trees just above my buddy's property. Yeah, it happened.

this sounds like a residential neighborhood though, not the wild. i'd be pissed too.

I would tell them to do what we do with coyotes here in ohio and shoot them, but are you even allowed to own a gun in Chicago?
