Who watched it last night.
I get the impression that they are starting to wrap the series up.
Did anyone else get that feeling?

I kind of feel that way too. And even more so after the previews for next week's show. I did look to see how many shows are left for this third season and the title for the finale even made me feel even more so.

There isn't a title for the 19th episode of this season yet. The original order from NBC was 13 episodes, which were to start their run after the Olympics, consequently the show was written and crafted to wrap up the season with the 13th episode. That is a big reason why it feels like this current arc is wrapping up. NBC liked what they saw from Schwartz and company after the first few episodes were in the box and ordered 6 additional episodes and bumped up the premier date to January. Those six additional episodes will be tacked onto the back end of this current run and don't factor into what is happening now much at all. Ratings wise the show is in OK shape with an 6.6 rating and a 2.3 share, for NBC they are in fantastic shape. It's the third highest rated scripted show on NBC behind the office and 30 rock. Schwartz and Fedak want to be back for a fourth season, Strahovski and Levi want to be back for a fourth season, but the ball is in NBC's court. That last fact can put a damper on my optimism though, because there isn't a more incompetently run network right now than NBC (for reference see: O'Brin, Conan) Oh and if you haven't noticed I too am a big fan of this show.

I have very little faith that NBC will do the right thing here. Despite its popularity, Chuck was barely renewed for this season.

The network is truly run by idiots.

The thing is that the deal that NBC struck with Warner Brothers for this season is so good that NBC is barely on the line for any of the production costs. In previous years they under wrote WB to a substantial degree. The way I look at it is that Chuck is a show that NBC doesn't have to have a real overt investment in for it to succeed. They don't pay much in the way of production cost, they don't advertise the show very much, or very well at all and they put it in one of the most competitive time slots on network TV currently going head to head with House and the Bachelor/Dancing With the Stars and despite all of those disadvantages it pulls the 3rd highest rating among scripted shows on the network. It should be a no brainier to renew the show, but Jeff Zucker doesn't appear to have one, yet he keeps failing up the ranks of the network.

I forgot about them adding six more shows... so that is good. The 14th episode was titled The Honeymooner. Apparently I read that wrong last night as I thought Honeymoon... Chuck, Sara... you know. NBC will cancel this show, like they cancel all of their good songs. They got rid of Friday Night Lights and I loved watching that song.

Leno moving back to 11:35 from the 10:00 slot and NBC sucking shit lately bodes well for shows like Chuck. I think it will be back next season.

I got the same feeling. Mrs. FFT & I even talked about how it looks like they're bringing things to a close.

Song? I think you mean show. And they didn't get rid of Friday Night Lights, it just moved to Direct TV's network for new episodes which are supposed to rerun later on NBC. They actually ordered two more seasons of the show, and this last season was quite good.

This is a good point. With the Jay Leno Show going off the air with his return to the Tonight Show, NBC had to fill that time slot with 5 different hour-long shows. There's no way they can afford to cancel this show with it's ratings. It's their highest rated hour long scripted show, and you just don't cancel a show doing that well.

I think that Chuck is the best show on television and, while I think that the Shaw storyline is getting old and it's time for his character to go, I thought that last night's episode was the best of the season so far.
