Becuase they have a bunch of role players on that team with no star to carry them and no height.
I called this from the very beginning, I HATED the mix of players Joe Dumars brought in.. Well, hated in the sense that it wouldn't work, but I it didn't bother me because I'm a Cavs fan..
I do like when Detroit is good though, such a good rivalry between us and them..
They should have never let Billups go. He was the one guy from that core that was capable of carrying the team on his back.
It's isn't so much about them being all role players but the fact that they haven't been healthy barely at all this year. If no one had been hurt, they easily have 10 more wins and they still beat Denver without about 50 points of offense from guys being hurt. Since they have gotten everyone back, they have been playing much better. Just haven't played well in the 4th quarter the last 2 weeks (also didn't help that the C's and Knicks shot out of their mind from 3 in their last 2 games). The only 2 real bad decisions Joe Dumars has ever made was drafting Darko (which at the the time, everyone said was the right thing to do) and trading Billups. Can't argue with a guy who put together a team that won 50 games 7 years in a row and went to the conference finals 6 of those years and NBA finals twice (easily could have been 4).
My biggest disappointment has been Gordon. Outside of the first couple games of the season and then he got hurt, the offense just isn't there for some reason. Not sure if he is still fighting the nagging injury but he hasn't helped much. Rip and Tayshaun have been great since coming back and playing well. Ben has been amazing this year and looks like he did 5 years ago. Not sure if he will play tonight but hopefully he does. I like all 3 of their draft picks they got, especially Jerebko. He will be a very solid player for them over the next few years (was named rookie of the month for February).
As for the game tonight, obviously without Shaq and Z, the Pistons have a shot to try and steal one. I hope they keep it close and don't Lebron go off for 40 but a reasonable game for him. My worry is that Jamison has always for the most part played well against the Pistons but with a new team might be different. Not expecting a win but a good effort against one of the best teams in the league.
