Great song writer, but how anyone can listen to a song he sings in beyond me. His voice gives me migraines.

I prefer the stuff he did with D12.

The whole my dad left us and my mom did drugs shtick he does in his solo stuff gets a little old.

I don't even know if he's in my top 10 MC's of all time. I do like him, but I just never have gotten into his body of work, overall. And that's important, IMO.

The Cypher he had at the BET Hip Hop Awards (didn't watch, just saw the video) was awesome, though. Wow. Him, Black Thought, Mos Def??



EDIT: Maybe he's in my top 10. I never re-visit much other than the top 5.

I heard/read. That is so awesome, I was insanely jealous. He's great to see live. Truly an MC in every sense of the word. Did you check it out/enjoy it?

Yes i enjoyed it very much, however, the location (inside of our athletic center) was horrible..the acoustics sucked and at times it was hard to understand/hear what he was saying, but all and all, i still enjoyed it

Em is in the top 5 for me but I can see how others would leave him out. Still I love just listening to Eminem sometimes I get into modes were I will just listen to his stuff for hours.

Insanely talented with a style that's never been duplicated and I don't think we will ever see anyone that's even close to him. Incredible songwriter as well.

But with that being said, he's had his fair share of misses. "Relapse" failed to deliver for me on just about every level, save a few songs ("Beautiful" was by far the best track).

He had a good 4-year peak from "Slim Shady LP" to "The Eminem Show."

After that, his delivery seemed to change. Although Em was always known for finding ways to rhyme words that didn't actually rhyme, I think he started forcing things too hard and it just didn't work. He was more sing-a-long rather than straight flow (SEE: Upper's Cypher Video. That's vintage Eminem at his finest. Glad to see he still has "it", but sad to see he doesn't use it as often).

And on a quick sidenote, I think Dre's production slid too. Seriously ... what's the best Dre beat from the past five-six years? There's a reason why 50 Cent's beats have sucked since his debut. It's got me worried that "Detox" won't even be CLOSE to the hype it has probably undeservedly received now. Maybe too many cheesy Dr. Pepper commercials have taken a toll...

i agree there are a few tupac songs that are decent but he isn't anything special, he would be nothing if he was still alive.

It's the length to which 'Pac is overrated that usually blows my mind. He had a solid career, and made some great contributions, but, man. As an MC? yeah, way, way overrated.
