My dad was for the underdog always so the answer to this one for me is no.
I have liked the same teams in each sport since I started following each sport that they participate

Indians
Browns
Cavs

Me:
Notre Dame, Ohio State
Indians
Browns
Cavs

He doesn't dislike Notre Dame, but he doesn't follow them either. He did let me have a Notre Dame room as a kid with Notre Dame wallpaper, pillows, blankets, curtains, trashcans, etc..

My Dad has been gone for 54 years so it's a little difficult to even recall, but I do know that being a native of Washington D. C. he was a fan of the old Washington Senators. in fact, he supported most teams from that area. Myself, being born in Detroit, adopted the Detroit teams, even though we moved from there when I was three. I don't know why I kept those teams all these years but I have. I'm sure my life would have been much less frustrating athletically speaking, if I had just adopted some front runners at an early age, but I didn't.

Nope, except for Ohio State.. He likes the Browns I like the Bengals.. He is a big Nascar fan and has liked Jeff Gordon since he started racing so I liked Dale Earnhardt. I guess I just wanted to be opposite just so there would be a rivalry.

We both rooted for the same teams. My Dad passed away in 1983. Growing up nothing beat watching the Browns with my Dad.

Dad is a Browns fan, I am a Steeler fan. Dad is a huge Ohio State fan, I root casually for the Buckeyes but my heart belongs to my alma mater UC Bearcats.

Yes?

My dad has never been much of a sports fan. He's always played sports but has never had the same enjoyment from watching/following sports like I have.

We're definitely both big Buckeye fans. I'm a Cowboys fan, when he was younger he liked the Dolphins and 49er's. I'm a Yankees fan, and he would probably classify himself as a Red's fan if pressed. He's never followed basketball.

I've had no contact with my father in the past 15 years so even if I did as a kid I would've switched teams.

My grandfather was a huge Reds fan which is where I get that from. He wasn't a huge football fan, though.

My dad ditched me when I was born, so I don't know...I don't even think he was a sports fan, since he was all into cars.

But my mom is the biggest Big Red fan that I know, so I guess I got that from her.

I'd have to say yes, but it was/is mainly one team. UK Basketball. I was brought up in the 70's watching the games, with him and his nephew, when they were on TV. We even made it to a few games in the 80's and 90's. (Rupp Arena, Freedom Hall, and the RCA Dome).

It was a common bond with us for years and many times we'd call each other after watching the games. He passed in 2004 and I have to admit I'm not as passionate about it as I once was.

My dad doesn't root for specific teams. He roots for good games and for certain people to win things.

I root for Dallas, Notre Dame, and Seattle Mariners.
