You know with Bo Pelini being from Ohio, and playing FS for the Buckeyes, Nebraska may just be the right fit. It would seem like he's on the verge of turning things around in Lincoln.
Just saw on local Pittsburgh news that Texas and Notre Dame aren't possibilities for the current Big 10 expansion effort. The Big 10 wishlist is as follows.....
1. Rutgers
2. Missouri
3. Pittsburgh
In that order. They really want Rutgers because of academics and their location per the Chicago Tribune.

None of those 3 add anything to the Big Ten, if not Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska, or someone similar in stature stick with 11 teams until someone pretigious becomes available. Don't add just to add.

Adding Rutgers only weakens the conference. Save the east coast viewership crap, that has no relevance in my book.

Whatever the Big 10 does, it will be for the money. That's the only possible thing Rutgers could possibly bring to the table, and I don't even know how that would work.

I lived in the New York City market for five years. It is a pro football/pro sports supporting public a lot moreso than college. That said though, the sheer volume would most likely equal that of a mid-west market even still. The thing is, there was never support for Rutgers, not even close to the same support most of the (if not all) Big 10 teams have. Unless I'm missing something, which is possibele, I don't see a whole lot of benefit coming from tha addition of the Scarlet Knights.

Gimme Mizzou and Pitt before Rutgers solely based on competitiveness

I just read an article from ESPN that came across my RSS feed that says ND may be forced to join a conference with the talk of the Big Ten going to possibly 16 teams and the Pac 10 talking expansion. ND's AD said that he thinks if that happens the other conferences would expand and create 4 mega-conferences. This would cause ND to join a conference b/c each would have their own TV network and the revenue from those networks would be way more than ND's TV contract. I wish I would not have clicked out of the article so I could have posted the link
