Upper90, like I said I just used that as an example. I have black, asian,white and hispanic friends who have all been abused (I'll leave it at that) by different ethnics around Col. OH. And the short north and campus area are 2 of the areas.

Hang loose, I'm not offended at all, and no apology needed, at least as I see it. I know that the area, like much of Columbus, can have it's bad moments.

def didnt condone it just explaining how i percieved them.....and some whites are scared of blacks its part of life....i had a lady who was waitn for the elevator....it was going down.....i came up we waited for a few minutes and when it came she said she wasnt going down there was no one else on the elevator and she got scared, but i dont blame her...i dont think she was necessarily racist just scared....i can look pretty rough sometimes if you didnt know me...and in some ways its justified, there are places i dont go because if you dont know someone you could get your ass kicked or shot..thats just the way it is...tv doesnt help

After reading all this tonight, it seems that Sage and bigkahuna have some real issues with race. They either are dealing with underlying guilt, or are sympathetic for an underlying reason, and have a hard on for white people.

I truly do not have a problem with anyone. It would be hypocritical of me to be racist/prejudice towards anyone coming from a biracial family. I don't think anyone on this thread is wrong, because it's based on their opinion. I'll argue parts that I don't agree with, and if I think there are inconsistencies, I'll point them out. My posts on the way History is perceived is based from an educators perspective. The reason some people are uneducated about cultures and histories outside of their own is because we teach the same shit over and over again in schools. Like I said before, it's pointless to teach a kid who won the Revolutionary War 5 years in a row. It's pointless to teach a kid how many people are in Congress. Instead of teaching kids stuff they DO know, why don't we start teaching them stuff they DONT know.

Ghmoth......... I missed your point. Its getting late man and its hard to keep going back through posts. For the people who never met their father because he never stuck around, I hope your kids have a father they can be proud of. I think you would be proud also. You set the example...Believe it or not your children will believe and learn more from you than anyone else as long as they love and respect you. If one parent is not there, a lot of variables can happen.

The racisim change will come from the children if they are taught right.

I work for a fairly large Fortune 500 company, well this week we are having our Black History Month recognition, and celebration type thing. Well our VP sends out an email stating what going to happen, like having games, some history and other things to celebrate, and educate our employees, along with them providing lunch one day.

Well as I'm walking around the building, a guy flags me down, and has me read the email, and I think nothing of it. He highlights the lunch portion and drops the infamous Fuzzy Zoeller line, "I just hope we aren't having Fried Chicken, Watermelon and Collard Greens", and just laughed and went back to work. I'm standing there scratching my head, and figured would bring this thread back up. To share my story, as it reminded me of Sage's post.

That isn't a racist thing to say. It is a sterotype. One that I would say is mostly true.

but to me thats not necessarily offensive based on just that joke...i guess i would have to be there and know the person to make that judgment, but i know black and white people that could make that joke and i would laugh...j

ust that same as if it was some other culture type event like asian and they said are we having fried rice or something....i also could see in different tones or expressions involved with the delivery of the joke or the type of person that could make it offensive

if memory serves correctly tiger said he wasnt offended(that could be a whole nother conversation i guess)
