Walls is a fifth year senior, he has another year of eligibility left from when he took a year off for personal reasons.

Kelly's letter to the faculty:

http://www.ndnation.com/boards/showpost.php?b=football;pid=60236;d=this

I wanted Stoops as much as the next guy but Kelly has been a great hire thus far, he's been doing and saying all the right things. The difference in class and public perception between him and Weis can't be measured. Now all he has to do is win on the football field.;)

Yea, he is really cracking the whip. He sends out position coaches to fever on thursday nights so that the players can't go, isn't allowing the players to compete in the bookstore tournament anymore, or hoop at rolfs

I'm still kind of sad to see him leave UC.

Also excited about Coach Jones :)

Good luck to ND!

I'm interested to see how Spencer Boyd from Cape Coral does and if he'll see much playing time as a freshman. He got recruited at CB but he's a good runner, too.

^^^^^Seems like a smart move as he tries to get Cierre Wood in the lineup too.

I don't know about Theo at WR. He had enough trouble hanging on to the ball when they handed it to him. Now he's gonna have to catch it AND hang on to it. LOL

Maybe Kelly, unlike Weis, can develop him in to a WR and work on his ball possession.

Brad Carrico of Dublin Coffman is the first commitment of next years recruiting class. 6'6" 270 pound defensive end. Notre Dame had its first junior day under Kelly yesterday and it was reported that there were a lot of high profile guys in South Bend.

Kidding about what? Just because Tate was a RB in high school means nothing. Tate is an all around better athlete than Riddick and the adjustment was natural, might not be as easy for Theo. Also, you give one example.......how about all the other players Weis made position switches on, where are they at? You don't think one of Weis' problems was player development, especially with the recruiting classes he landed?

Irish get solid commitment from Jordan Prestwood, 6'6" 270 pound Offensive Tackle from Florida. Impressive offer list..Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Florida State, USC among others. Some much needed good news after the tragedy in PCB last Friday.

They probably do in terms of what he wants/expects from the team. Could also be just another motivational thing too. Either way, I feel pretty confident he will get things moving in the right direction.

I'm happy that Kelly said that. If they're out there just going through the motions.....there's no need to lie about it. They probably need a swift kick in the ass. It's pretty obvious that there's a bit of a culture shock going on there and now that Spring practice is underway......it's only going to continue.

Gotta break 'em down and then build them up.

^^^^^Good post ewok and I totally agree. These guys were sucking wind after the very first practice, Kelly had them going at a furious pace. They'd better get used to it because that's how he operates the offense.

I told you guys a couple months ago that Kelly focuses heavily on strength and conditioning. You have to be quick and have good stamina to keep up with the offensive scheme he runs. You will notice come the fall that your offensive line will be very lean, yet mobile.

I agree with Ewok's sentiments regarding the team as well. Coach Kelly is a master motivator and is very shrewd at speaking to the media. Every word he speaks in public has a meaning.

How'd coach Kelly's team do against Florida? The scheme will work against the garbage less talented teams(read: ND will have a good regular season), but when they have to go out and play a real team, they will be promptly BLOWN out.

Perfect hire for ND.

Good call. Kelly's team didn't play Florida though if I'm not mistaken.

UC played Florida in the Sugar Bowl and got SMOKED last year. 37-3 at the half, if memory serves well.
