I would add this. The school he attends is rather new just opening a couple years ago and they only had one full varsity season last year. They made the playoffs basically on the strength of their defense with Lynch leading the way. Because they've been a new team trying to build, the coaches probably haven't spent enough time with Lynch as they have with other players. Because he's kind of a freak in size and can pretty much dominate on his own. But that means he still can benefit from a lot more specialized, high level coaching.

Here's a solid listen from Tom Lemming on Notre Dame's recruiting. He's basically saying much of what others are, Notre Dame is doing well but ultimately winning is the best recruiter. Fucking win.

Lynch was reported at a recent camp as 6'6" (shoes off) and 267 lbs.
Give him a senior year, then college training and coaching....will be as good as he wants to be.
I'm rooting for ND to win so they won't chase after Urban again.

^^I really doubt Urban's health will allow him to coach much longer. He's not a crippled old man like Paterno, but in reading several articles about him he has some serious health problems from the strain of coaching; I would not be surprised in the least to see him hang it up after this season.

Florida obviously would work with him to make things smoother, like they obviously did this past retirement of his, but I don't see it lasting if he doesn't change his health.

He has made major lifestyle changes. This year he went to Hawaii, Bahamas, and a couple weeks in Europe. Shelley was lucky to get him to Crescent Beach before. The health issue is not as major as was feared. There's no telling how long he will coach. He could mellow with age like most men.

..or he could yell and scream his way into an aneurysm. :D I hope not though, I've always been a huge Urban Meyer fan. I'm glad to see he's vacationing and relaxing. He's probably though, realistically, going to have to give more responsibility to the coaching staff and not blow his gasket as often if he wants to stick around.

Confidant and upfront. Hard to argue anything he said as far as goals and expectations.

IMO, this is also the frist time in a long time that a coach has come in with a real sense of urgency. He's made it very clear from day one about the "5 minute plan" and not a "5 year plan", he hasn't fucked around either. He's changed so many things from the locker room, to attention to detail, to conditoning and nutrition that it isn't funny. All stuff that was non-existent under Weis and Willingham.

It fresh and exciting but ultimately, if he doesn't win football games it's all for not.

I'm very intrigued by the defense because at Cincy his defenses cost them a little bit. I want to see if better talent will translate to better results or if he just worries about the offense and figures he'll outscore everyone.

^^^^In that radio interview he said he had to play the hand he was dealt at Cincy (injuries and inexperience) and admitted to trying to outscore teams in order to win. He also said he can't win consistently that way at ND, which to me shows he understands that he needs a good defense to be competitive against the competition ND will face, especially in the next couple of years.

Funny, when RRod did that at UM, he got ripped apart. Haven't heard a word about Kelly changing things at ND.

Umm, some things....okay, A LOT of things, needed changed at Notre Dame. It wasn't like Rich Rod was taking over the program after a coach who couldn't get it done. Lloyd Carr did a damn good job at Michigan. ND needs an overhaul in regards to attitude, conditioning, etc.......not so sure Michigan did when Rodriguez stepped on the scene.

Good point. But each coach still has his own way of doing things and should be able to change. In hindsight, RRod didn't really change much other than the schemes on the field.

Just funny how everything RRod is turned into a negative.
