yes, richmond heights has had some success here. I think they have won this district a few times in the last decade. This district has been pretty top heavy - a lot of years it stronger than other districts in the canton regional at the top, but weaker at the bottom.

Richmond Hts. won this district in 2000 and lost to Hiland in Regional final. In 1999 lost to Dalton in District semis, then lost to Dalton again in 04 and 05. Lost to Rittman in 06 and 07 all in district semis. In 01, 02, 08, and 09 they were D III. In 03 they were D IV at Middlefield but lost in sectionals. So I would say the WCAL has their number at Strongsville lately, but at a new sight who knows what will happen against these teams as they all will deal with a new venue and who knows how they will play there.

In the last 10 years 4 teams from Strongsville have gone to State,\
03 Open Door, 05 Lutheran East (won when Africentric forfeited title) 08 Chanel , and 09 Lutheran East again. So it could be Dalton is avoiding teams #3 , #4 and going against the #1 who they are familiar with and have past success against.

thanks rider - your analysis may be right, when other things are equal (or unknown), go with past success.

You are right Riders1, this tournament bracket is set up like a middle school bracket playing games on tuesday thursdays and multiple games on saturdays starting at 11:30 in the morning. This tournament so much better run when it was at Strongsville. Hopefully it will improve next year

yea, this is really odd - strongsville was always the tues/wed fri/sat schedule like it supposed to be. I can't see any reason why they would be having games thursday nights and saturday afternoons. But I guess to look on the bright side, I can catch a few games at the wooster district as well!

This can't be all that profitable of a tournament to run with all the private schools in this district that typically don't draw well. The cleveland area publics like richmond heights and cuy heights have not brought a lot of fans either in the past. Dalton always draws well regardless of how good they are and rittman brings a solid crowd if they are good. For garfield heights to make the most money, they want a dalton - rittman final.

I see the 3 seed - cuyahoga heights beat the 1 seed, richmond heights on friday night. This may clear up why #2 Dalton chose to stay in R.H's half of the bracket (and why chanel jumped on them instead of going elsewhere). I also see that Orazio (sp?) the Akron recruit is out for the season for Cuy Hts. Was he a big part of their bball game plan?

Any predictions out there as the tourney begins tomorrow. Jus looking at the bracket my final 4 prediction is Chanel vs Dalton and Cuyahoga hghts vs Rittman. MLK is probably the sleeper team. Any other predictions out there

that is exactly my predicted final four - rittman is a tough team and if they are on, I think they will meet cuyahoga heights who should definitely be there. I have not seen chanel or CH play so I can't really predict what happens after thst. My gut tells me Dalton or Cuy hts make it to Canton, but we will see. Really no interesting matchups the first round, but it gets much better after that.

Actually there are games each night Monday thru Thursday and 3 Games Saturday, which I find interesting to see games earlier in the day similar to playing times at state, if you get there. Mondays crowd was small and it was interesting to see such a large floor with space all around and no balcony seats, everything down on the floor. Dalton and Rittman coaches there scouting.

Game day for the Dogs! If we win we get Kingsway. I have always wanted to see us play them and we might just get to see it.

central lost badly, not sure of the score. I think they finished 1-19 on the season.
