I just don't know how they are going to continue to pull this deal off, temp's predicted around 50 for the next few days with no end to the rain in sight.

The snowboarders are going to be wearing swim suits and tank tops.

short track in general is pretty crazy.....and the way they do relays just adds to it.

nice comeback by the US. Also, interesting that the event they just advanced too isn't until the 24th

This just looks so cool. I only wish that I could ice skate. The only time I went on the ice, I ended up on my butt.

Don't feel bad. The last time I played hockey (about four years ago) I took a weird fall and shattered three bones in my ankle. I spent 14 week in a wheelchair because of that. The really bad part is that I used to be a professional figure skater and I never had an injury that required more than a bandaid or an ice pack. I guess old age finally caught up with me.

Vancouver's weather is not going to get any more wintery in the next week. I live in Seattle and I just heard the forecast. Seattle and Vancouver share the same weather patterns. Whatever happens here happens there and vice versa. Both cities "enjoyed" the warmest January in recorded history. At any rate, we are supposed to hit 60 by this coming Friday. That is definitely not going to help the skiing at Whistler.

Its been a good show so far. Liked watching the short track last night for the men and the women's moguls(the one trick called the 360 spread eagle made me LOL) and then Luge. I think I'd still do Luge, something pretty sweet about going 90 MPH like that..... I hope tonight's coverages isn't all 3 hours of figure skating... USA Women's Hockey is on right now as well I believe

I shouldn't read this. You people on the east coast get the games live. I live in the same time zone as Vancouver and yet we get the events tape delayed. You told me what the result was before I had the chance to watch it.

Since I'm a former pro figure skater, I thought I would make a few comments about the figure skating in the Olympics.

First, the Americans have virtually no chance of winning a medal in the pairs or ladies events. We have never been strong in pairs, and I don't know why. We have seldom won an Olympic or World medal. I know why our women are not doing well. A dozen or so years ago our ladies (and yes, that is the official term, they go by "ladies" and not "women") were so deep that our fifth-place finisher could have contended for a World or Olympic medal. But since this has turned into a competition of triple jumps, our white women cannot compete. You may have noticed that most of the top women in pairs and singles are Asian (or Asian-American or Asian-Canadian or whatever). When Asian girls go through puberty, they do not develop large breasts and large hips like white and black girls. The Asians also tend to be much shorter. Being short with a flat chest is the ideal build for a female figure skater. Even in the US, our best skaters over the past 16 years have been Kristi Yamaguchi and Michelle Kwan plus some 15-year-old white girls who soon grew out of their bodies. The female half of the top-ranked Russian pair is a native-born Japanese. (I thought it was funny when Scott Hamilton said, "Whoever heard of defecting TO Russia?") Canada's Joannie Rochette is the last of a dying breed. She is just about the only white woman who has a chance to win a medal. We'll just have to wait and see what happens. At any rate, the US will not be strong again in the ladies' event until a lot more girls of Asian descent get into the picture.

The US men's team and ice dancing team are very strong. I would not be surprised if we win multiple medals in one or the other event.

A question a lot of people have about male figure skaters is whether or not they are gay. With the notable exception of Johnnie Weir, figure skating is a very straight sport. In the 1970's most American and Canadian and non-Russian European male skaters were gay, but this has changed radically over the past twenty years. In today's world, you will find more gays and lesbians in hockey than in figure skating.
