I play and think it's fun. I play on a team with a bunch of younger dudes (19-21) and we have a blast. It's just fun to get out on a field in the summer time and just play. I played baseball for 15 years and still love the game, but softball is still enjoyable. The game moves so much quicker and you can actually still look functional on a softball field if you're not sober.

Guys do take it way too serious though and ruin a fun rec game.

That's the first video I found, I'm not putting any more effort into it.

I've played Men's slowpitch softball for 5 years now. In that time, I've seen one guy have to have his face completely reattached while playing Third Base and another get hit in the chest and have his heart stop. Sure, that doesn't happen all the time...but it's not as easy and safe as you think.

You obviously know nothing about the sport...so why do you keep being a dick to everyone who plays it?

As far as soccer goes, go to any high school football game and you'll see packed bleachers. Go to any hs soccer game and you see and handfull of mom's and grandma's in the bleachers. What's that say about the sport???

I will say this.

I played baseball from the time I was 4, through HS and 2 years of college.

I played on 2 state final 4 teams in HS and was all state.

I played 2 years of college until I completely blew out my shoulder and quit hardball for good and concentrated on my college studies.

I currently play slow pitch softball each summer as it doesn't hurt my arm near as bad to throw a bigger ball (less 'whipping' action since the ball is heavier).

I play slow pitch and laugh/joke and have fun with it, I do NOT take it seriously.

You are right however in one respect, there are FAR too many guys who think its the 7th game of the World Series while they are out there playing slow pitch softball.

There are guys who think you need to have months of practice before the season so you can win the league, or whatever. I joke with them like "its lofted at you at like 30 MPH, its a huge ball, and it never curves, its not THAT hard to hit that you need a month of practice before the season".


Far too many men who take it REALLY seriously and even want to get into fights and BS like that while playing.

THOSE are the ones that are G-A-Y GAY.

I have no doubts you were the catcher in high school and still are a catcher.


I have broken 2 noses in the last two years, one on purpose another on accident by hitting it to third base so I will more than gladly have you line up down there.

I make fun of Softball Guy, the one that was never any good at anything else but now is roided up or just bigger than everyone else and has finally been able to compete in a sport and finally has his moment. Not everyone who plays softball is this guy, most are old baseball players who like getting a game in, in an hour or like playing a sport that encourages drinking beer.

Not being a jerk, but after catcher and 1st...pitcher and 3rd would be the next "fattest" guys on a slow pitch softball field.

Again, not saying anything about you, I don't know you, but really pitcher and 3rd don't typically need or show that much range.

I disagree. Besides great catches in OF, most of the time you see an awe-inspiring play in softball it's a nice snag a third on a ball that's crushed that way.
