I'm thinking about buying myself a nice watch as a college graduation gift, but I'm relatively new to the watch game.

I'm looking at Hamilton, Jacques Lemans and possibly Bulova. Brown or black leather strap and I'm working with a budget of $400-600.

Thanks in advance for advice/help.

First don't buy from a jewelry store, mark up is unreal. I would suggest amazon. I love watches and have bought luxury watches from amazon with warranty. Both you names are nice watches. Me personally I stick to automatics. Currently rocking this:

Also have a few Invictas and Swiss Armys as well.

Took my watch off the better part of 10 years ago and haven't worn it since. No need with the cell phone.

Spend your $$$ on something else, like beer or something...

I've had my Ironman Triathalon now for 15 years. Thing works great. However, doesn't really seem like the market you're into.

I bought a really cool 'Rolex' for $20 in NYC this fall. If I had the coinage, I'd get a real one.

I've got a couple Bulovas. Bought one in Jamaica for dirt cheap compared to the price here in the States. One of them is pretty heavy and the other is light. Love them both.

Haha did you buy some fly-ass "Jokely" sunglasses there too?

I have an invicta and a tag heuer which was a bit of a splurge but what the hell, and an old rolex my grandpa left me, which stays in the safe deposit box for my kid.
I would look online and do comparrison shopping for sure.

Buy the best watch you can afford for two reasons:

Good watches can be repaired if needed.

You can pass the heirloom down to your kids and their kids. etc.

I love Jokely's. I'm not mad when I break them or lose them. Everytime I ever spent good money on Sunglasses something happens to them. The pair I wear right now I've had for two years. Bought them from the Dollar Tree for a buck. :s
