Sam signed with Kent St. today. Should be a story in the paper tomorrow.

And I agree with RR1, that IF we lose another conference game, it really doesn't matter. Everybody is looking at what we do in the tournament. We need to prepare well, too, as we must learn and counter to what a team/coaching staff such as Northwestern did to us.

Sometimes it's not about if you lose, but how you lose, and if you learn from those losses that really matter.

I think 2 losses to Senior did plenty to help our play down the road....and the road loss to Lex....not pretty, but goes to show that you have to come to play every night. Lex is 13-3 so they're no slouch either. I'm thinking we'll beat them at our place. @madison and @wooster will be 2 tough conference games left. Triway and Wadsworth will be 2 tough non-conf games....so plenty of work to do.....but it provides a fabulous opportunity to fine tune their game leading in tournaments.

I agree with you guys BRF and RR1 this town needs tourney win. We all know the last staff pissed down their leg every tourney game even with plenty of talent. It was just unfortunate that the coach could not make adjustments and did not make his players better.

New year, new (and greatly improved) staff=tourney wins.

With the exception of the head coach, isn't the staff basically the same people? Isn't the team basically the same people also? Has Wasson's overall game really improved over last year?

I believe that Wasson has gotten a lot tougher underneath.

And, yes, the staff is basically the same people.

Congrats to Max...that is awesome.

There is a big coaching change from last year and it makes a big difference.

I gather from reading previous posts, that those are "digs" at the previous coach.

Do you mean tougher in the sense that he, (Wasson), gets in foul trouble early and sometimes often?

From a team standpoint, the turnovers have improved in a negative sort of way. I'm sure Coach Slaughter isn't teaching that attribute, and if they carry that to the tounament, much like last year, they won't go far!

Getting tougher means not getting pushed around. He has got physically stronger and is able to hold his own. There's nothing dirty about it, but there is a difference between playing soft and hard. Most of the fouls have been from coming over the back rather than holding his ground. I'd rather see him play this way than get pushed around.

Most local schools south of 30 are dismissing early. Snow is supposed to get heavy as the afternoon/evening wears on. Wouldn't be surprised to see this game get cancelled.

Nothing official as of yet.

Thanks, RR1!

This game has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13.

Hey, is it just me, or am I noticing some fishing for info coupled with some negative comments? ;)

I see nothing on QKT's facebook account...and nothing on the school website. I'd check QKT radio before making the drive. If the game happens, it'll be on the radio.

OMG!

Here we go.

I personally blame this loss on The4Ringz.....he has some kind of mantra going on.

Seriously, though, I am troubled.

sounded like a well played game....50+% shooting, 93% from the foul line.....someone tell me what killed us?

Triway shot 60+% according to the radio...and sounded like they hit a lot of easy baskets.

I've never seen a team maximize possessions like Triway.

First time poster here! First of all I wanna say I like what the new coach is doing! I think orrrville was not aggressive enough tonite though...let triway hold the ball and then give up easy layups....orrville wants this game in the 70's or higher...not gonna get there by not pressing and forcing the issue. I'm talking about man to man full court press with ball denial. This game felt like the district title game with triway when we let them dictate tempo...not as bad as then but similiar. Just felt like triway was controlling tempo. Need to be aggressive!! This is just my opinion....and maybe I'm wrong!! What do other people thnk?

I think that you are right, sman.

That's kinda what I've been getting at. NEVER let the other team dictate to you. And we must learn from this game tonight for the tournament trail.

You cite an excellent example.........that district title game where we got owned in a classic example of letting the other team dictate.

Oh..........btw, welcome to the FreeHuddle!

Now you have me thinking back to my old days of coaching with the guru of Orrville basketball. And I am remembering a triple overtime victory in the district finals against Triway back in the early 80's in which WE DID NOT let the other team dictate ANYTHING. We really didn't have too much, but used our strengths in a way to get the win. We need to get back to that. Be smart. Use your strengths.

I don't like that loss at all. However, if we learn from it and become better...it really won't mean much it the big picture. I really hate to lose to Triway though.
