Disagree. The offensive line has played pretty well this season. Sam Young and Co. haven't been that bad this year. It's not a great o-line, but it's good enough. At least for '09.

The problem hasn't been the offense, it has been the defense. Would it not be cheaper for Notre Dame to fire Tenuta and hire a top notch defensive coordinator at 1mil/yr, rather than fire Weis (18mil) and hire a new coach (3-5mil/yr).

Can anyone here honestly say that if Notre Dame had a top 25 defensive unit, they wouldn't be undefeated right now?

I still think the best option is to fire Tenuta. However, a loss to Connecticut would probably change that opinion.

Nah, I'm tired of seeing a team that isn't motivated or excited on game day, and that comes from the leader, Weis. I'm ready for a change.

For all of the talk about how highly ranked the offense is in yards......Notre Dame has the 46th ranked scoring offense in the country. Not great at all. Also, when you look at scoring breakdowns......ND's offense did most of it's damage (on the scoreboard) in the 2nd half and in particular the 4th quarter. I'm sorry, but that has A LOT to do with calling the game conservatively early on most of the year. And we know who that comes back to. My point is the offense and Weis are not without blame here. Let's not blame it all on the defense even though they have stunk for the most part.

Firing Tenuta isn't a cure all. I'm with Hamp and others. Weis has had his opportunity and he received ample time. Let's move on.

Here's some stats to back up your point. In Notre Dame's 4 losses (Michigan, USC, Navy, and Pitt) the Irish were outscored in the first three quarters by a score of 92-44. In the fourth quarters, though...the Irish outscored their opponents 60-30.

We will see... I am not sure what ND's problem is. I am a buckeye fan and don't comment much on ND. But I think it is defense and defensive recruiting problem. I can think of a lot of stud offensive recruits charlie has brought in but no defensive recruits except for Teo. NDs offensive game this year isn't bad and can compete with anyone IMO. They just have never had a stud running back who can go for 100 at anytime. Their last great RB left as a junior and went undrafted. I think that hurt ND a lot. Tate and Floyd are certified studs, and are the best recruits charlie has ever got. I think he deserves to stay but he needs to turn things around on defense.

Rock-You provide a lot of solid reasons why Meyer might consider ND. The whole "dream job" thing, a new challenge, $$$$$, etc. However, what if Urban wants to become one of (if not the) greatest coaches to ever walk the sidelines in the college game? In that case, he isn't going anywhere. He has it made at Florida and if what I said about his aspirations is correct - forget about it. Also, I believe that he still has a son in High School and has no desire to pick up and move his son out of his current High School until he graduates. It's been about a year since I read that but I think that's right. ND can't wait on Urban Meyer's son to finish High School to make a move.

Actually I know several ND fans who think it's either unrealistic or he's not at the top of their list.

I've been saying for a while now that there's pretty much zero chance that it happens and Harbaugh is at the top of my list. No salivating here.....

I was at that game and worked the sidelines for ESPN (friend of mine hooked me up), they didn't leave the stadium until 12:30 (I know because I had my picture taken with quite a few players when they were leaving) and even then the city was still a complete zoo. The Pens also played that night and the Rivers Casino was full go because of the Steeler game the very next day. I could buy the story of a late arrival to South Bend. Plus, who knows what happened once they got to the airport, like I said there was alot of traffic in Pittsburgh that weekend.

We will see. I think the job is a little more enticing for Meyer knowing full well that he would have a decent team when he arrived and that he can still recruit blue chippers at ND.

I've been reading a few ND message boards and alot of people feel that the administration would be willing to lighten up on admission standards too. IMO, they will offer him the job again when Weis is canned, if he takes is another story.

You don't like the way that Harbaugh conducts himself but you want Meyer or Stoops???? Meyer has been involved in some bush league stuff too. Running up the score and calling timeouts in lopsided games to rub it in. Stoops has been known to run it up in the past too.

Kelly has been lights out at Cincy and even though he turned things around at Central Michigan.....he went 4-7 and 6-5 in his first two years there. Stanford was bottom of the barrel when Harbaugh arrived and he went 4-8 and 5-7 in his first two years there and now has them at 7-3 and ranked in his 3rd year (Brian Kelly went 9-4 in his 3rd and final year at Central Michigan). Harbaugh also coached San Diego to 7-4, 11-1 and 11-1 in his 3 years there prior to his departure for Palo Alto.

To put things in perspective.....Stanford had won 16 games total in the 5 years before Harbaugh took over. So far in Harbaugh's three seasons there (season 3 obviously hasn't been completed yet), Stanford has won 16 games and is ranked for the first time since 2001.

I just don't think Harbaugh is the right guy for the job, too many questions IMO. BTW, thos incidents involving Meyer were against Georgia and he was provoked, I don't have a problem with that, it kind of reminds of when Lou was at ND, he didn't take any shit. I don't know of any incidents involving Stoops. Also, I think Kelly is much more polished than Harbaugh and runs a better system.

The one thing I do know, who ever ND goes after had better be 100% tried, tested and successful at the collegiate level.

You don't know of any incidents involving Stoops??? How about going back and looking at some results from previous seasons. Dropping 77 points on a helpless A&M team a few years back. But you don't like that Harbaugh went for 2 against USC? Just seems strange. Meyer? Well, not just the timeouts vs. Georgia but the late and unnecessary field goal vs. Miami(FL) last year in a 23-3 game with 25 seconds left. The "sorta" suspension of Brandon Spikes for eye-gouging a couple weeks ago. Suspending him for a half???? C'mon! The ONLY reason Spikes ended up being suspended for the entire game was because of the backlash from the media and the public. That "about face" didn't fool anybody.
