One of my top fav albums ever. Even though songs were stripped down, songs were so emotional and powerful. You could hear the passion in Cobains voice, especially in "Where did you sleep last night"

Anyone else love this album?

"Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" and "Where Do Bad People Go When They Die?" are on there? I used to be a huge Nirvana fan, but have fallen off recently. However those two songs are just amazing.

For my money, one of the greatest live albums ever.

I really feel like they did "Where Did You Sleep" justice, and that's a tough song to do justice.

Is "Man Who Sold The World" on that one? I think that has to be one of my top 5 Nirvana songs. (even though it was a remake)



I think this girl (Jordis Unga) does an awesome job with this song too!

Very good album. Not as good as Clapton Unplugged, but not many albums are.

sjm - I think the name of the song is "Lake of Fire", not "Where Do Bad People Go When They Die."

I also love their version of "The Man Who Sold the World."

Yeah it is Lake of Fire, I just looked it up on the iPod; shows you how long it's been since I've listened to them.

This was an amazing album from an extraordinary band during my personal favorite period of music history. Nirvana was a band that made you HAVE to have an opinion of them -- many loved them, many hated the way they changed the music scene from hair-bands to raw, garage sounds. Always makes me laugh when knuckleheads like this chime in to say they "suck balls," a typical hater comment from an ignorant dullard. There are many bands (including the previously mentioned KISS) that I think are vastly overrated and I would change the channel if I heard them on the radio, but I can still respect their skill and impact on music.

It's weird, as someone who spends a disgusting amount of time thinking about, writing about, listening to, and criticizing music...I don't have a really, really strong opinion on Nirvana. I wish I did, I always enjoy sitting in on a good Nirvana debate, but I mean, they had at least one album that's considered a classic, this record, which I love a lot...I could have done without MOST of In Utero, and Bleach was, as far as debuts go, pretty messy but still enjoyable.

I don't love Cobain lyrically, I will say that. And I think if most anyone actually LISTENED to his lyrics, they might not love him lyrically either. He had his really bright moments, the opening line on the opening track of In Utero is fantastic, but he really had some shit that simply made no sense. What he DID have, IMO, is a really underrated pop ear, and a great sense of melody. I would have loved to see him live and evolve with that.

Nice post Upper, you are definitely one of the more articulate contributors to this site. Haters take note how he explained his likes and dislikes without sounding like a complete douchebag ...

Very good album. Lake of Fire is top notch. Eric Clapton Unplugged is the best unplugged album. Alice in Chains Unplugged is also good as well as (Don't Laugh) Tony Bennett.

"Lake of Fire" is amazing. That and "In Bloom" are my two favorite Nirvana songs. I definitely like the lyrics of "Lake of Fire" more, but something about "In Bloom" really gets my going when I here it.

There are many reasons why this album will stand the test of time but to me the number one reason this album is a classic is "Where did you sleep last night".
