I know I can't be the only one who has never laughed at a Conan joke. I don't know why people think he is funny. I get why stoners and college kids get it. For the rest of us though I just don't see it. The same with Jack Black, Will Ferrell, John Reilly and most of the SNL cast over the last decade. What the best part is Conan just proved that shock humor and being really funny are two different things. Almost anyone can get a laugh from a bunch of degenrates with fart jokes. It takes a real comic though to keep it clean and make people laugh. So farwell Conan because if you go anywhere else other than CBS you will fail. Proven facts for the other stations that they can not keep a good late night show up against the top two.

I think Conan is a little more than "shock humor". Yes, he has that too, but he is a funny guy without it too.

It also beats Leno's "non humor".

I'll get off of your lawn now.

Explain how it beats Leno's "non-humor". Because even though people think Leno's rating isn't very good it is still double of what Conan is getting. And at the same time last year the Tonight show is down almost if not more than half in ratings compared to Leno. Numbers speak.

As a whole, late night host television is down...people just don't really care to watch it as much as they used to. Put on reruns of old South Park, Family Guy, etc. in those slots.

I think Conan is a much better interviewer and he seems like a genuine person, unlike Leno (seems like a douche), and letterman (seems like an angry old man, and has proven to be a slime).

Conan's rise from a simple writer on SNL and the Simpsons to being a late night talk show host was nothing short of amazing, and I am a huge fan of these types of stories.

Obviously not everyone will like everyone. Conan would be much better suited not to be censored as he has been on The Tonight Show.

The numbers are down because Leno's show is a disaster and a terrible lead in for the nightly news. The reason why Leno did ok at this point last year was because people would tune in for the 10pm drama...stick around for the news...and then not change the channel to catch Leno's monologue before drifting off to sleep before the first interview.

But since Leno's show blows donkey ass...nobody is watching NBC at 10...and therefore not watching the news...and therefore not sticking around for Conan.

Numbers don't lie...Leno's show is one of the biggest flops in TV history.

The next funny thing Conan and Letterman say will be their first. They both are terrible. Neither one should be on television.

Conan is a genius proven by his amazing writing that he did while on SNL and the Simpsons.

I don't think it's just college kids or stoners who 'get him', either.

I will say he's been handcuffed with on at 11:30. When he was on 12:30, it was pure gold. We'll see that 'let it all hang out' attitude these next 2 nights. It's been getting increasingly more open as the week has progressed. Tonight and tomorrow should be epic.

How can you say no one is watching Leno? Do you know the facts or are you just spouting garbage? Look up the numbers. Leno is doing well for a talk show at 10 pm. Better than the news shows on at that time.

It's relative.

More people are up at 10 than 11:30, so the sheer Leno vs. Conan numbers are up for this simple reason.

However, he is getting KILLED by everything else at 10:00. His numbers are awful FOR A SHOW IN THAT TIME SLOT.

People are tuned into other stations (namely CBS as they have the best shows at 10:00) and those who stay awake stay tuned to CBS for their news, then for Letterman before dozing off. This is therefore killing the ratings of NBC local news and the Tonight Show.

yep...doing great , excellent numbers, resounding success...
it just proves that America can't get enough of watching celebrities racing around a go-cart track in an electric car, rather than actual witty conversation and good guests.

Why do you think this whole thing started?! Do you think NBC just had it out for Conan? No...the local affiliates were bitching because Leno was such a terrible lead in, and the numbers for the local news shows were down. This was costing stations tons of cash in revenue and they bitched to NBC. Finally, NBC decided to move Leno...because his show blows ass...and that's when the whole thing with Conan started.

So you should probably learn the story before you try to spout off.

Conan > Leno...always has been, always will be.

Of course Leno is not going to pull 10 mil viewers against new TV shows. Of course when the budget is smaller it makes up for it. And I really don't think NBC cares what local tv stations are crying about. Also you say that its the local tv stations are complaing? Did you ever stop to think that people are not watching them because they are just like WTVO 9 where they are bias, have poor weather forecasts, and report less and less on what is going on in the local community? I know I quit watching the news because I can get all I need on my computer, local news as it happens plus weatherbug. So I for one don't really care about local news.

WTOV is in the 159th largest market. No one gives a shit about them regardless.

They don't report on what's going on in the local community because there isn't anything going on. It's Steubenville for Christ's sake. There's football and unemployment. The end.

It would have cost NBC $150 million to buy out Leno's contract...quite a difference from the $40 million they have to pay Conan.
